How much of Markkanen’s drop off this year was due to the Jazz trying to get others involved? With that question:
Jazz offer Markkanen
Rockets send Green and Smith.
Rockets get the scoring forward to put next to Sengun.
Jazz get 2 young pieces to continue/start building around.
Someone owes filler here. Who and how much?

ALways thought Lauri was overrated and not a winner, but Green is straight trash

Lauri is too expensive for Houston's situation and is not a Udoka player

Not interested. 10+Green+filler I like more, but would not personally do (maybe with another asset like a less desirable future 1st it would get over the line). I don't live the fit for Houston or Lauri, either. I think that frontcourt is fun offensively but gives up too much defensively.

What's wrong with Jabari? Seems like a high profile prospect ghat can replace Lauri and more fitting age wise.

Will be due an extension soon and hasn't improved. Id larger roll the dice on a lottery pick. I still like Jabari and if we could get him and 10 in the deal without giving another major asset I would be pleased, but he isn't good enough to be the main return for Lauri.

Houston would require multiple firsts to take on Lauri's albatross deal.
And Jabari is out of the question.

Kinda crazy that in 8 seasons Lauri has never been to the playoffs and will make $46 mil next season. Meanwhile Brunson will make $34 mil and SGA $38 mil. Lauri is just too expensive now for most teams under this new apron CBA.

Markkanen:
1. One of the worst contracts in the NBA
2. Not a Udoka type player
3. Would be a terrible fit next to Sengun.
No, from every direction.

Sengun was a better defensive player than offensive (over performed on D, underperformed on O) this year, I think the defense would be fine, my concern with Lauri is he's on a max deal and has never been playoffs tested. Not taking a risk on his cap number given that, would need to be a more desperate team

JGreen, filler (maybe Whitmore also?) to Utah plus 10
Markky to Sacramento
LaVine to Houston plus 2027 SA first plus 2031 Minnesota first.
Utah gets a lottery pick now. Sacramento picks up Markky to play with Sabonis. Houston pushes pick ten into the future and gives up waiting on green and instead rides lavine for scoring for two years.

Houston requires that, huh.

Would pass as a Jazz fan unless picks were coming back. And Houston fans think Utah needs to send picks.

As I was saying...
The divide is just too great to be overcome. Pointless.
