Dallas isn’t getting Giannis without Flagg end of story. AD and Lauri don’t compete for anything, no picks. Not close. Brutal, terrible, awful. Not a playoff team. Horst would need secret service protection if he bailed Nico out like this
FREE GIANNIS

P.S. I had a version that involves Cavs and Pistons, that send Hunter to Pistons and Portis to Cavs, but I like keep my trades small...

Dont think AD, lively and 2 1sts get Giannis (pj/hardy and sexton is about a wash to me)
Houston trumps this offer pretty easily

R U sure? What package? Messaging has been very lukewarm on breaking up their core.
From Bucks POV, do you see this as a good deal?

There's not going to be any trade he likes, understandably.
But the team this trade is really bad is the Lakers. Why are they giving up all their picks for Lively and PJ? That's way too much for them to be paying.

Yeah I don't get this for LA really at all. Not just the picks but Reaves too. Value is just so so bad for them. They seem to be here so Dallas can get Giannis for a package that could not get Giannis(again unless Horst did pull a Nico, but we should never assume he would)

Re: Horst pulls a Nico, Texas flies a Greek Flagg, reunion in SoCal with dairy Finnish
This is trade so flawed on so many levels.
1: This is a big underpay for Giannis. Why would the Bucks accept this? They get older and become worse team and the best they're getting is a 32 year old Anthony Davis. No blue chip prospects and no picks that have significant upside. There's simply no chances Mavericks would going to be able to get Giannis without including Cooper Flagg. The Mavericks simply don't have enough quality assets to compete in a Giannis trade otherwise. There's a reason why the Mavericks weren't at all mentioned as a possible destination for Giannis until they got the 1st pick in the draft this year.
2: In what world is Austin Reaves worth this much? He's a below average player that asking for 30+ million dollars per year for the next off season. To me, that would make him negative value consider he's not worth anything remotely close to 30 million. Even if he was demanding for more reasonable money, he still does not have value in the NBA. He's Poor defender, not a great shooter or playmaker, a playoff dropper and is just a product of the Lakers hype machine. I don't see any team lining up to give up anything remotely valuable for that. These pick swaps that the Lakers are including mean absolutely nothing if they're just going to be handed talent basically for free anyway.
3. The Jazz are getting ripped off big time here. I'm not a fan of Luari Markkanen and his value has clearly dropped from where it was last year, but this package isn't even good enough for the Jazz to move Colin Sexton or Lauri Markkanen by themselves, let alone move both Collin Sexton and Luari Markkanen. All they're getting back is junk contracts and pick swaps that will no meaningful upside. In fact, this basically seals the deal these swaps will absolutely nothing since the Jazz won't be good for atleast a few years anyway. This trade also seems to assign much more value to Austin Reaves than Collin Sexton, which I completely disagree. Colin Sexton is easily worth more than Austin Reaves and it's not close for the reasons I mentioned before.
Overall this is simply not a good trade here. The Mavericks and Lakers are stealing value and the Bucks/Jazz are getting ripped big time. There's nothing than can realistically make this trade salvageable.

So, one opinion is I'm undervaluing Reaves, the other is I'm overvaluing him
I agree the Lakers are overpaying, I'll try to adjust it.

REaves is tricky to value for sure, but I feel like you can dismiss an opinion that calls him below average. That's just not a serious opinion. He can talk about how he's going to get a lot more expensive and that reduces his trade value, and of course it does. But even just the one cheap year has positive value.

I'm on the high side of Reaves valuation, but I'm also very high on PJ and Lively, they were the main reason for Mavs elite defense in addition to Kidd/Sweney, maybe I'm assigning too much value to recreating the 24 Mavs.
Lakers give 2 1sts, it looks like a lot because they get their 1sts back.

OP edited to replace Reaves with Knecht.
Interested in opinion of theis direction for the Bucks, competetive team (IMO at least) w/o Giannis.

I hate these big trades, they have so many parts where it can go wrong that it's almost pointless. The ones that seem plausible are usually 2-team trades, or 3-team trades where it's basically 2 sequential 2-team trades that make sense individually in terms of value but not fit/salary, and thus need to be coalesced because first trade provides some value that needs to be made possible / converted into better fitting pieces by the 2nd trade.
