Giannis to Philadelphia w/ New Orleans

MIL out: Giannis
MIL in: Zion, Olynyk (exp), #3, 2026 & 2027 1st swaps returned, 2028 PHI 1st swap (top-3 protected)

Why? Get Bailey and a reclamation project in Zion (or cap space if waived later). Get their picks back to safely bottom out, if needed.

NOP out: Zion, Olynyk (exp), 2026 & 2027 MIL 1st swaps
NOP in: Embiid

Why? New front office = 1st big move. Sell low on Zion, but move on from the distractions for a fresh start. Sacrifice the Milwaukee picks back to keep the #7 pick in the process.

PHI out: Embiid, #3, 2028 1st swap (top-3 protected)
PHI in: Giannis

Why? Move on from the Embiid era, Giannis stays in the LEast.

I don't see how you expect anyone to reasonably respond to a trade with both Embiid and Zion in it. But what I can say is Philly gets an absolute steal here upgrading Embiid to Giannis while removing the health risk. So I get why you posted it.

I mean, I don’t hate it from NO. I just feel there’s injury information on Embiid that teams probably have and we don’t that make this impossible to judge. I don’t love our choices at #7 as much anymore to fill out the roster, maybe Kon or Fears still. CJ, Herb, Kon and Trey around Embiid to start could be fun offensively. Still praying on a return of Murray and Embiid actually on the court.

Careful Doctor. Good Trade, but you mention Zion again and they'll lock this up and throw away the key. Also, Mod's didn't think of it, rather, you did; so thats very rude of you, you should have given them the opportunity. Who cares that Zion could likely to be traded for comparatively next to nothing or even waived, which was not something predicted before yesterday; we have some UFO of a high-horse to protect. You'll really upset a bunch of dweebs or something. Welcome to walmart i love you. Just looking out. G'day.

This trade resets the timeline here for the 76ers. They turn someone with major chronic health issues into a clear cut top 3 player in the NBA and because they didn't move any future 1st round picks, still have enough assets to make another move to help Giannis win in a weak Eastern Conference. The 76ers would need to find a quality Center however, so Giannis won't be forced to play the Center position all the time. However I don't see the Bucks falling for this, unless they really like Ace Bailey. Zion has too many issues for the Bucks to sell him to fans as one of the main pieces coming back in a Giannis trade.

Yes thank you, how can anyone think at a time like this? It's asking to much, and unfair to some of our Mods. Needed to be said.

I really am starting to wonder if you are okay. But since this is directed at me this is just a friendly reminder that this kind of post isn't helpful to discussion. If you want to direct posts like this to other users or rope the other Mods in when you are angry at me for reasons unknown, you will get yourself a nice little break.

Lets just talk basketball. And today, it really is hard to evaluate trades involving either Zion or Embiid whether that personally offends you or not. You will note no mod closed his thread or prevented you or anyone else from commenting.

feel like NOP should just get giannis themselves if this was the cost

I can’t see Joel currently being worth a high variance unprotected first and a nice swap? Philly does own the LAC first/swap and could make a real offer if you wanted to..

I also can’t see NOP trading their own unprotected first two years out.. Especially in a deal like this (Zion-risk out, injury risk in). I didn’t see that as an option two days ago and definitely don’t see it now.

The 2027 first is the better of NOP/Mil. NOP trading for Joel and trading an unprotected first two years out is really poor decision making in my mind.

But if Milwaukee was doing this, NOP would find a way to cut out Philly. They have assets to add and could figure out how to add another piece once they have Giannis..

This is a similar trade i posted in a thread that got locked:

Zion, Alvarado, '26 1st MIL swap, '27 1st MIL swap
for
#3, Paul George, '29 1st protected 1-3 can swap w/ LAC

My idea was that it would give Philly a trial at a Zion reclamation, but also mainly give them Giannis ammo for whenever. Its much tougher to work a Giannis trade than a Zion one, easily. Yeah Its tough to move Embiid without moving Giannis without involving a 3rd team which is tough.. I think you are missing the point here Chuck.

NOP can’t trade the 2027 Mil swap. We keep seeing that..

The 2027 first is tied to Atlanta now. NOP is either trading their only 2027 first or they can pay Atlanta to get that pick back and then can give Mil their first back..

But now, I think Philly only does it if Milwaukee is trading Giannis for the Zion, McCain, salary, 2026 and 2027 Mil firsts and the 2028 LAC first.

And if Mil did consider that.. NOP should just be trading for Giannis.

So that whole little tantrum you threw was about your thread getting locked? The day the accusations came out? Okay its unlocked. This is your free pass. Next time try what other posters do and send me a PM asking for reconsideration. You will note all the responses you got agreed with me so it was hardly the UFO or dweebs or whatever you think I am lol deciding or whatever nonsense that was.

Seriously.....

The 2027 1st isn't a swap, it is a full first. New Orleans gets the better of the MIL/NOP 1st and Atlanta gets the worse 1st.

This is beyond horrendous, Zion literally got accused of rape yesterday on top of all his other issues. #3 in this draft sucks, Bailey is an obvious bust. The rest are swaps? That’s a Hell no please lose our number.

I find the idea that Embiid currently has positive trade value to be risible honestly.

I do fail to see why the accusations warrant no trade speculation. He represented the Pels at the lotto and Dumars put out a statement that they weren't trading Zion. Now, likely bc of the accusations, Pels are saying no one is untouchable. Thats why you're going to see people discussing cheap Zion trades. If Gayle Benson wants him gone, its either something like that or waive him. More likely to be traded, not less, is allz i'm sayin.

You are thinking only from the Pels POV. Tell me which NBA governor is willing to trade for Zion the day those accusations came out. Again, you win, your thread is open and you can see how many posters agree with you. But I don'[t think there are teams who will entertain trading for him until this is resolved. And even then most won't for all the other baggage with this now mixed in. A settlement isn't going to make teams think nothing happened.

None of that disagreement though justifies your posts above. Any further questions shoot me a PM, but I consider this matter closed.

I thought about this as well, but the holdup there was Giannis not having another star to play with in NO. At least in Philly, there's Maxey and whatever you think George will be the next 2-3 years. Windhorst has mentioned Giannis staying in the East, given the landscape. This doesn't guarantee anything Milwaukee will do, but from Giannis's perspective, I think it makes sense to want to stay East (fwiw I think Toronto and Cleveland will be suitors as well). He also mentioned New Orleans (and Portland) as a team that could be involved because of Milwaukee's picks, but not necessarily the Giannis recipient.

He can be used as salary filler essentially. Zion's contract becomes guaranteed on July 15th, and the draft is on June 25th, so he can be traded then immediately waived, if i'm not mistaken.

(Games-Played Clause: The contract includes a clause that if Williamson missed more than 22 games in the 2022-23 or 2023-24 season, the final three years of his contract would be non-guaranteed.
Triggers: Williamson missed 53 games in the 2022-23 season, triggering this clause.
Non-Guaranteed Seasons: The 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28 seasons are now non-guaranteed.
Potential Waiver: The Pelicans could waive Williamson after the 2024-25 season without paying him the guaranteed salary for those years. )

Roughly 7.9 million guaranteed next season if waived before July 15th
