LAL/NEO

Lakers get: Murphey + Matkovic

Pelicans get: Reaves + Kleber + Milton

Why for Lakers?

Get a young shooter who is decent at defense and around the same age as Luka, who you could pair with for years to come. Has all-star potential.

Why for Pelicans?

Get a young offense generating point-guard who has all-star potential. One of a handful of players who were 20-5-5 last season. Pelicans want to reset. It doesn't hurt to have someone who could set the table. Pelicans have some slight duplication going on at the wing with Herb Jones/Antonio Reeves/Hawkins, etc. They don't really have a passing type PG.

Fair enough. Lets say the deal gets expanded a bit.

Lakers get: Murphey, 19th pick

Pelicans get: Reaves, 26th pick, 55th pick

Nets get: 2031 Lakers 1st (unprotected)

Should be enough compensation to make it go through.

Why are the Nets in this? I also have Murphy>Reaves and I think the gap is a bit more than the 26th pick

What do you think the gap is?

More than the Lakers would pay. Murphy is a core piece for them while Reaves could easily walk the following offseason. Im not sure you could bridge the gap in a way the Lakers would find acceptable (like 2 1st round picks overpay kind of way)

I try to be neutral as possible with trade ideas, but it is usually some where in between what the poster and the op suggests, so a 1st round pick. Reaves + 26th pick for Murphey or Reaves +19th + 26th picks for Murphey, or Reaves + 2031 1st for Murphey.

I think the 19+26 is probably about right in a vacuum.

Hard to get a team to trade someone they dont want to. Much harder still when the prize youre giving them is an UFA to be. Some of these trades may be fair, but the Pel's would still decline

Yeah I hear you. The suggestion is just based on if they want to trade him. Supposedly nobody on their roster is untouchable, hence the suggestion.

Lakers have 4 fowards and 2 guards , they don't need to trade a guard for a forward.
If Lakers are confident they'll re-sign Reaves, he's also the better player, they will be downgrading.
