Portland trade: Simons, Grant
Portland receive: Lavine, Anthony, 46
Sacramento trade: Lavine
Sacramento receive: Grant, Isaac, 25
Orlando trade: Isaac, Anthony, 25, 46
Orlando receive: Simons
Why for Portland: get out of last year of Grant's deal, free up minutes for scoot at PG
Why for Sacramento: Roster balance, improve D
Why for Orlando: Improve O
Add seconds as needed
Ayton/Clingan
Deni/pick 11
Camara/Thybulle
Lavine/Sharpe
Scoot/Anthony
Sabonis/JV
Grant/Isaac
Murray/Laravia
Derozan/Ellis
Monk/Carter
+25th pick
WCJ/Bitadze
Banchero/Wagner
Wagner/Da Silva
Suggs/KCP
Simons/Black
+16th pick
I think all three teams become better with this trade..?

How many years left on LaVine?

Lavine has 2 left vs Grants 3. Frees up money for when scoot and camara needs new deals

As long as Orlando can get some guarantee that Simons would resign at 4 year something reasonable, Id do this.

The only reason for POR to do this is to undo a mistake. Don’t want any of the players.
As much as I’d like to move Grant. I’d rather move Simo s for 16 and expiring contracts.

Fair enough.
May as well look at other deals or just let him expire.

maybe....maybe not
but he is an expiring contract and if Portland is taking on extra salary for more years (KCP/Issac) I'd say that elevates his value from 25-->16

I am not a fan of grant I think he is actually a pretty bad player overall. He doesn't put in a ton of effort defensively and he's a poor rebounder and an inefficient chucker. He also misses like 20-30 games preseason on average.
No thank you I would much rather keep lavine.

I don't see a purpose for Portland to do this as is.
I would pass

orlando is trading expiring for him in OP, not extra salary

they get better on court next year (lavine > simons/grant) and free up money in 3rd year.

Sure but it’s no one POR would be excited to keep.
It’s using Simons mediocre value to dump Grants garbage value for Lavines somewhat worse than mediocre, somewhat better than garbage value and fluff.

I understand YOU feel that is enough justification. I disagree with your opinion.
Freeing up money 3 years from now is not a priority right now. There's still plenty of time to work it out.
You are diluting any value Simons may have by attaching Grant to the deal... this is a bad move IMO.
Id be willing to ride it out one more season with Grant and bet that he can bounce back a bit in his trade value (at least to be considered neutral).
Considering Portland's current roster makeup, I don't see adding Lavine as a long-term positive.
Again -> this doesn't meet the Blazers current needs

So Portland trades Simon's to give Scoot more playing time, but takes back LaVine pushing Sharpe to the bench? That's makes zero sense.

yea i think scoot has a higher ceiling. he took a step forward in year 2 and i want to see what he can do in year 3. Lavine/Sharpe/camara/Deni can share the bulk of SG/SF/PF minutes

that's irrelevant with LaVine's contract coming back
in a two year period Simons, Ayton, Thybulle, Timelord, Sharpe, Camara, Scoot, Avdija, and Clingan will all be getting new contracts. LaVine's 49M salary in 2026-27 will be a giant monkey wrench

Lavine expires before scoot/avdija/Camara/clingans new contract kicks in. Grant's does not.

Your proposal has been almost universally disliked by the Portland fans... all the posters that I noticed are very knowledgeable about the cap and team dynamics.
Just take the L and leave well enough alone. No need to 'explain' and justify yourself. We understand your logic-> but it's misguided for Portland's current situation

Lavines 49M in 26-27 is not a big monkey wrench though. Simons (if re-signed like wizenheimer implied) and Grant combined will make more than Lavine in 26-27.
Alternatively they can always just take expiring and late 1st for simons too if available. Just throwing out different ideas is all.
