JA to NOLA

Post#1 » by Syko_boB » Wed Jun 4, 2025 6:42 pm

Memphis trades
Ja Morant & Brandon Clarke

New Orleans trades
Dejounte Murray & Trey Murphy III

If there is truth to Memphis being fed up with Ja's actions & see a limit on the teams potential, they shift to a more defensive focus & neutral offensive identity with capable 2 way players at every position

Jackson Jr
Murphy III
Wells
Bane
Murray

NO has to choose a direction, & if they choose to stick by Zion, why not try & pair up 2 of the most exciting & explosive players ever
As currently constructed they also face the fear of a low ceiling, but adjusting to a faster pace with an All-Star PG can shift the odds

Clarke
Williamson
Jones
McCollum
Morant

Makes sense to me. But fully expect the NOP crowd to retort with ‘We will not trade Murphy’.

There are so many role players on teams that have fans unwilling to trade them.

I think NOP owes Memphis here.

Not me! Anything should go for the right price; getting a star is clearly the right price and line of thinking. Idk who would be saying we need to keep Trey over Jah, but i wouldn't listen to them anyway.

This is missing at least #7.

Ja, Clarke for #7, Tre and Murray

I'm not sure why New Orleans decides to go this route with their lackluster roster.

This really comes down to how the Pelicans feel about Ja more than Murphy's value.

In a vacuum, sure but idk that MEM would have leverage before the draft; they only have 2 late 2nds to send back also. I would counter with Dejounte, Jose, #7 & '26 IND 1st 1-4 protected for Jah if # 7 was the sticking point.

The NOP spacing doesn't look good after the trade, I also think Murray undervalues the offer and that the Grizzlies would prefer Herb (excellent contract, for a couple more years).

Quickley/Herb Jones+ 7 to GRIZZLIES

Ja/Clarke/ NOP

Ja/CJ/Murphy/Zion/Missi

Murray+Bucks Swap FRP 26 RAPTORS

The Raptors are preparing to have the best package for Giannis, with assets like Barnes and the possibility of having control of their selection in a loaded Draft in 2026.

Horrible for Memphis, who should keep Ja.

This offer is offensive and you should get a warning.

You get a warning for repeated backseat moderating. Report a post in the future if you see an issue. Do not report this one. I have seen it.

Memphis is a bit of a mess but Morant is a special player. You don't trade him for a near 30 year old guard coming off a second serious injury, who looked bad before he went down and may fall off a cliff soon without that athletic ability. I don't think Memphis is trading their franchise player for draft picks, and I don't think the Pelicans have the combination of players to get things done. Nothing to see here.

Would do this deal because of the value. But Ja and Zion are a weird fit and they’d have to make other trades to make it work, so I would rather not do the deal at all than add assets in order to make it work. Defensively this puts a ton of pressure on a second year center and on Herb, and offensively you really lack for shooting.

Not enough for Memphis and it means giving up on this year cause Murray won’t be 100 percent til 26. I believe in Trey’s upside but he’s not a shot creator and I’m not sure how Memphis initiates it’s offense until Murray gets back.

I just know they'd be an awsome pairing, on either team really! I have thought about that a lot over the years, I know im not the only one. Its 2 of the most dynamic offensive engines together taking turns. Tough to pick your poison. They'd probably average 8 assists a piece with half those to each other and be throwing each other lobs. We be very fun at least. Wouldn't be the crispiest offense, but when things break down, or in playoff ball, they'd be about as tough to defend a duo there is.

I believe he meant “a warning from FBI”, so you are clearly out of jurisdiction here
