JJJ
As a Memphis fan, I’m curious as to how he is seen/valued around the league. What are some packages your team would offer for him?
Unreal physical talent and ability. However, I believe his instincts and activity are severely lacking. If he knew what to do off ball offensively he would enter that next level, and maybe he gets there with the new coach. But there has been way too much standing around and loitering at the perimeter for someone with his size

Re: JJJ
He reminds me of a defensive version of Karl-Anthony Towns. Definitely worth the Max but can't be your best player on a title team. Could be 2nd best or 3rd best on a title contender with a well-built team with lots of talent (2024 Minnesota and 2025 New York).
Memphis has the right pieces in place with Ja/Bane/3+D wings.
The difficult part is JJJ's offense really pops when he is a floor-spacing 5 but his defense requires a strong post/rebounding presence.
The same thing is true for Towns. He requires a defensive rim protector and anchor but his offense truly warps the floor as a 5 who can shoot and drive vs the slower footed 7-footers.
For Memphis, their offensive engine of Ja/Bane hasn't been healthy for consecutive seasons, and the questions around Ja are going to continue in the minds of many until he proves otherwise.

I think SAS should trade #2 for him if he is made avaliable.
Wemby and JJJ would be absurd.

Re: JJJ
I would think any team with their offensive engine in place should at least look at what it would cost to add him. I agree he's a bit unique in terms of what he needs next to him, but that's okay. There are other great players who have specific needs too.
I just don't see Memphis moving him. Otherwise why lose some depth you like this summer to raise and extend him as basically everyone agrees is their plan.

I’ve heard some Celtic fans float Jaylen Brown for JJJ.

Every team wants him, Memphis won't (and shouldn't) move him.

Re: JJJ
If a team trades for him at the draft. And sits on 15 mil in cap until December (ish).. they can renegotiate and extend him up to 53 mil first year..
But Memphis shouldn’t trade him unless it’s Giannis honestly?
I sort of like the idea of KD and “2 firsts” in with JJJ going to a third team, Phoenix getting whatever salaries and “2 firsts” but I still think you just lock him up for four future seasons below a 30% max and enjoy.

Re: JJJ
One of my favorite players in the league. Had him number 2 in the 2018 draft behind Luka.
However I feel like he wouldn’t be worth what it would take to trade for him. A better thread idea is to set a price then see who’s willing to pay it or come close. I dislike these kind of threads because it turns into the OP or fan base just shutting down everything that’s thrown out there. The discourse usually turns into throwing insults at another poster or posters. Better to just set the price.
I’d want one blue chip prospect, one top ten pick, salary relief and a future unprotected pick with two swaps. That Pistons offer was pretty close, but I’d need another piece like another unprotected pick and two swaps since they can’t add a top ten pick.
Ausar + 2 unprotected picks and 2 swaps.

Re: JJJ
I've had a gut feeling that he's an option for Minnesota's consolation prize if they can't get Durant. Any interest in either Gobert or Randle?
I think Memphis is in an interesting spot right now, with Jackson's contract. Do they want to bring him back for what he might cost?!
