PHI-UTA-ORL

Philly sends: Paul George, #3
Philly gets: John Collins, #5, KCP, #25
Why for Philly: Break Paul George into two useful players with much better contracts to give more flexibility while still maintaining a top 5 pick.
Utah sends: #5, John Collins, Collin Sexton
Utah gets: #3, Paul George
Why for Utah: Eat a lot of bad salary to move up to secure VJ Edgecombe.
Orlando sends: KCP, #25
Orlando gets: Collin Sexton
Why for Orlando: Shave a year of salary off if needed for when Paolo's max kicks in and massively improve scoring. Orlando also saves some money this year to potentially help with any tax issues that could arise.

I’d do this for Utah.

Not a huge fan for philly. if i'm moving down, i really want to focus on maximizing value/assets/young players rather than moving PG.

The get out of tax-jail card looks interesting for Philly if you’re still getting the 5th pack back. Still getting one of Tre, Bailey, VJ or whoever they like if it’s not one of them..
I think there’s other third teams for Sexton that would make Philly happier though than an expensive 3/d guard? Even with Collins, they should want another big considering Joel.. or go for someone with more size to play the three..

It's a good trade imo.
Each team should do it. It suits then 3 teams.

It's not nearly as bad as those trades that involve the 76ers moving out of the 1st round for older vet players, but the main purpose for any team to move down in the draft should be to gain a additional asset, not to dump a bad contract. Those sort of moves rarely work out.

5, 25, and getting two rotation guys for PG's contract seems like enough of a win to me.
I also think it's very possible to trade down again with Brooklyn or New Orleans after this and accumulate more assets.

I personally rather have KCP + WCJ (#25) than an expiring Sexton.
And don’t think Orlando is willing to add additional value to simply get rid of KCP contract.

It is not just for PG, it also costs #3. The lucky part is the player Philly would take at 3 may be available at 5.

25, trading down two spots, and getting two rotation guys for PG's contract seems like enough of a win to me.I also think it's very possible to trade down again with Brooklyn or New Orleans after this and accumulate more assets.

FIFY.

KCP plus pick 25 for Sexton is a square deal.

If you could guarantee that Orlando signs NAW after trading 25 + KCP for Sexton I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

I think Utah is owed some value here that other teams shouldn't pay, but if we have a clear target that we must have then it is fine.

Ehh maybe in a vacuum, but not practically.
There’s more to a players value than their on court contributions.
Sextons offense doesn’t make up for his defense (which statistically is one of if not the worst in the league).
KCP defense (statistically elite) makes up for his lack of offense.
Cole/Howard/25 should entice Utah more and that’s the trade to make if you’re Orlando.

I just don't buy that Morey is so low on PG that he'd package 3 to dump him. It's a half move that doesn't maximize current or future title windows.
But if he was, this is reasonable.

Value is fair if 76ers have no faith in PG improving at all. Collins is a better player today and 3 and 5 could have the same value for the 76ers depending on their view on the draft.
Jazz should do this if they want to guarantee their guy

Who would Philly target at 3? At 5?

IMO It's past time for ORL to sacrifice some defense to improve their offense. You have a squad that can cover for Sexton.
But if you prefer to give up that package instead of KCP, that wouldn't hold up a deal.

I would assume that the Ainges will have their preference order, but the strength of the preference matters; to me it's a weak one at best. I wouldn't move up at the price point that Philly will (rightly) want to extract.
