Complete the trade: Phx, one of Bos/Min, ???

Post#1 » by Mamba4Goat » Thu Jun 5, 2025 4:38 pm

If Phoenix wants a center, there aren’t too many options better than Gobert or Porzingis on the market. So what would be the best trade that’d be built around…

Suns in: Gobert or Zinger, another win now piece or two (or asset(s))
Suns out: KD

??? In: KD
??? Out: some combo of salary relief, win now pieces, and/or assets

Min/Bos in: some combo of salary relief, win now pieces, and/or assets
Min/Bos out: Gobert/Zinger

Why for Phoenix? Get their star center, and something else solid, probably?
Why for ???? They get KD
Why for Min/BoS? They get cap relief, reallocate resources, and/or potentially get a small asset.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Kind of a tough one here. Working out a Gobert trade from MIN is a pretty massive endeavor. Working out a Durant trade from PHX is a pretty massive endeavor. It's a pretty empty template you're giving us to start with haha

Porzingis to PHX for parts from the KD trade/what's left on the roster could probably be doable but would likely need another team to take some of the PHX money they're sending BOS (since that's the reason they're dealing him to begin with in any deal).

Think there’s a huge gap in value between KP and Rudy. And I think Minn would be keeping Rudy in a KD trade. I probably have suggested Rudy for KD, but just seems to create extra steps.

KD to SAS
Barnes to Boston
KP, Keldon, 14 and a well-enough protected future first from SAS to Phoenix

Throw in whatever other salary needed, or a fourth team if needed.

I think Gobert is worth a LOT more than Porzingis given the injury issues, very close to KD in value due to KD's age. I also don't think either deal answers Phoenix's problems. Now Booker for Gobert and a solid asset might solve it for Phoenix for a year or two if they could stay healthy. I just think Durant is a different level player than Booker who is very good and in his prime but Durant has been special at times in his career. Booker has never been more than good.
