I heard a trade idea on the radio the other day and wanted see what everyone thought about it.
Coby White
for
Kings 26 1st top 8 protected and the Hurter TPE
Chicago gets the space they need to resign Giddey and a good pick.
Kings get a starting point guard who looks to me like he would be a really good fit with Sabonis. Obviously this is just one trade and the kings will need to make multiple trades to fix our roster.

It's not bad, I like t being a 2026 pick not this year because the Bulls have a pretty full roster today, plus #12. Next summer they have at least 5 expiring contracts so with #12 in his sophomore year they might have spots for another pair of rookies. PORT could go wild and get to #15 and their long owed protected pick would convey. There is no urgency for the Bulls to move White, Terry and Carter can be sent or bought out to make the cap space
Two bad news parts. The Bulls are probably waiting to see what Coby does this year to see if they want to resign him next to Giddey or if they like Huerter at what he asks for or Dosunmu steps up coming off an injury. Right or wrong the Bulls tend to hold onto the guys they draft. The 2nd is, Coby is a SG, the Bulls tried him a couple of times at PG but he just didn't do well being the main distributor, balancing when to run the offense and when to score. This past year when he as off the ball, he shot well from deep, he drove downhill to the basket, scored and got to the line mainly because Giddey was directing the show.
If it happened I would be happy to get the pick no matter how good Coby played and whatever money he got.

Chicago has plenty of space to sign Giddey as is. I'd want to know how those protections roll over as the Bulls. Offer seems fine as long as those protections decrease over another couple years where they can feel really good about getting a first. Would hate for the Kings to get off to a bad start and then sell off Sabonis and flip White and tank.
Also don't like this for the Kings unless they have a Monk deal lined up for a defensive forward.

From the Bulls perspective, I think a likely mid round first for Coby is fair value.
For the Kings, I don't think this makes sense. The Coby/Zach/DeMar trio has been tried and failed. I think they should be looking for a more traditional point guard than Coby.

I think there is zero chance that Demar is still a king at the start of next season. He most likely gets traded for a forward.

Wayyyyyyyyy more interested in Ball than White. White is a pretty bad defender (can’t have our backcourt be two bad defenders especially with Sabonis “anchoring” the defense).
Do CHI fans want to give up Ball?

Offer is solid, provided the protections don't decrease. Coby White doesn't have the value to risk a higher lotto pick.

I actually like white as an option because offensively he reminds me of fox with his speed. Obviously defensively he's not great. I imagine if we made this trade we are probably looking at either trading monk in addition to DeRozan or bringing Monk off the bench again. This is the lineup I imagine would be best in this scenario.
White/Carter
Ellis/Monk
Lavine/laravia
Keegan/ forward that we get for derozan
Sabonis/valanciunas
I actually like the look of that roster assuming we can get Monk to buy into being the 6th man

Yeah I disagree. I don’t like that lineup at all. We need a lot more defense & length. We’ll continue to get eaten alive giving our opponents the size advantage each night while also starting 3 below average defenders.

The Derozan trade is where we get the defensive forward that we need. Ideally it will be a player than can switch between forward spots to guard whichever player is better. Maybe we get PJ washington in a dallas deal, or Jaime Jaquez Jr in a miami deal, either way I think if we pull off one of these kind of moves the kings will be much better defensively.
We can't really do anything about Lavine this season, so we are making the best of the roster that we have.

The defensive forward doesn’t change the fact that you’re staring White, LaVine, and Sabonis (and playing them all 32+ mpg). Not enough defense in my opinion.
