DiVincenzo for ntMLE plus value?

Since the CBA has allowed MLE’s to be used like TPE’s, every non-taxpayer has an automatic mechanism to trade for Donte DiVncenzo. His skillset and attitude probably fits a lot of teams plug-and-play, and at $12 mil a year for two seasons, he has even more value fitting into team’s cap sheets.

MIN would likely be looking for a future pick, or a useful young player on rookie scale. With the additional financial relief, they could bring back their three potential free agents, Randle, Naz, NAW.

What teams could use DDV the most? Especially non-tax teams?

I don't have him as warranting value in case taken into cap space/exception.

I think the teams that mostly would want him would be teams without access to the full MLE, but I think it wouldn't be hard to find a team willing to take him into space/trade exception/MLE. And maybe send some value back, but not sure you are getting back a useful good player or a 1st if you aren't taking back money?

But some team should definitely take him and send you multiple 2nds. He's a fine player.

Non-tax teams are the only ones who can take him into their MLE, right? I would expect that at least some non-tax teams would prefer to use their NTMLE to acquire draft assets by facilitating trades (hoping that this is the Jazz plan). DDV is fine, probably neutral value +/-. Might return some SRPs?

ORL could really use him. They have a path to the MLE...but it'll be a minute.

Yeah if Orlando can clear the room under the apron, they are a clear answer to this.

Last year, DDV adjusting to a new team, and coming off the bench in MIN last year took a lot of the shine off his great finish in New York at the end of the season and in the playoffs. I think the plan is to start him with Ant, but that will require Ant to make a jump in his playmaking. We saw some improvement at the end of the season, but we’ll see if that’s what Ant focuses on over the summer. But it’s a clunky fit, regardless.

Still, last year DDV’s $12 mil/yr deal had some value. If he’s only worth 2nds now, Connelly might not want to disrupt the chemistry that took a half season to develop. However, if MIN could get a cheaper starter/rotation player with a different skillset, the team might trade since there is roster crowding at SG. MIN would value a little payroll relief, an interim PG while they wait for Dilly, a back up center, or perhaps an SF. MIN’s needs could expand to OF, if they don’t bring back Randle/Naz, so it’s quite confusing right now.

What could ORL offer?

This is just a very difficult summer to try to do this in. The Pacers are going to pay Turner now. The Pistons can likely bring back Beasley for something similar. The Nets probably won't give away value. Maybe the Jazz?

Next summer will be a lot more fluid with a lot more cap available league wide.

I was referring to DDV as "Iron Pyrite" after his previous season. This year has been more similar to the rest of his career in terms of impact, which is... fine.

I agree that if he's only returning SRPs — the likely outcome, imo — then the Wolves shouldn't move him.
