Re: Quick and Easy KD to NYK
The Suns would never accept that return, particularly as Robinson has yet to demonstrate that he can start as center for a full year without some fluke injury taking him out.

Re: Quick and Easy KD to NYK
The Knicks should not do this. Getting rid of two defensive players in exchange for a player who's below average on defense is a bad move when they already have KAT and Jalen Brunson as their best players on the roster. This trade would the Knicks far more reliant on their offense clicking on all cylinder with limited margin for error. For the Suns, OG Anunoby would a great piece to surround Devin Booker with if they're not planning to do a full rebuild(they should, but doesn't appear they will), but Mitchell Robinson injury history would make this a no go from them.

Re: Quick and Easy KD to NYK
New York's problems are a lack of offensive flow and having just enough defense to make up for Brunson/KAT, who are two of the weakest links at their positions in the NBA.
This doesn't really solve anything offensively and makes them significantly worse defensively.

How does adding Kevin Durant not solve any offensive issues?

Durant doesn't make offenses run better in a vacuum, he harnesses offenses by turning the lower quartile of shot quality into 45-55% midrange.
Jalen Brunson does a similar thing with his on-ball shot making.

The playoffs are a different beast and having a 7’ guy able to make tough shots solves a lot of issues for a team that relies on a 6’ guy to do the same.

Just out of curiosity ignoring the picks involved do you think your team would have been better off keeping the role players you sent out for KD and maybe just looking for a younger point guard to possibly step in for Paul or was pairing Booker and KD was too good of an opportunity to pass up? Did KD improve your offense from the previous years?
As far as this trade it just feels the Knicks randomly throwing talent together and not really addressing the problems of the team and possibly making them worse. The Knicks have offensive talent but a questionable fit on both ends of the court. I'm not sure how this fixes things.

lol. I mean Ishbia coming in and sending just about everything out for KD was not a good decision. It was super risky in the moment and just about everything that could have went sideways after that deal happened, happened. But had they just flipped Crowder, Mikal and Cam (without the picks) for KD would things have worked out better? Of course. They would have had other avenues to build out the roster.
Cap management is also a big part of this proposal that Knicks fans consistently ignore. But all is good. They will have plenty of other offers to explore.

The Knicks would be in a similar situation where they wouldn't have many other avenues to adjust the team after a trade like this since they already traded away most their draft assets. So I was wondering what you thought the impact of trading those role players for KD without taking the picks into consideration. Just KD versus Mikal, Cam and Crowder. What do you think would have been better for the team?
As far as the cap management it could go many ways as KD is 37 year old on an expiring contract. I'm not sure what is being missed.

Because of this comment right here. If you were smart and got offered OG and Mitch Robinson for KD. You jump on that in a heartbeat.
Brunson
Hart
Bridges
KD
KAT
that is a championship team. KD can get you 30 on a night.

I don't see that Knicks line up having either the depth or defensive talent to be taken seriously as a contender

Yeah, that lineup would struggle to get out of the first round...assuming KD doesn't get injured. (And if KD misses substantial time...we'd be lucky to make the play-in.)

I don't watch many Suns games but I assume KD's ability to score and pairing him with Booker was the main reason they traded for him. Why haven't they had the success some people expected?

KD's strength has always been his individual scoring prowess at volume. Gives your offense a nice floor and safety valve. But he's never been a guy whose presence seemed to elevate the offense of those around him. He's not an elite offensive anchor so much is he is an elite scorer.
I don't think he solves the Knicks issues either. I'd only want him in a scenario where the rumblings about Knicks players being super frustrated with Towns never bothering to learn the defense after a full season and they want to move him out, okay bringing in KD as another scorer seems okay.
But not adding him to Towns/Brunson. I don't see how this makes the Knicks a better team.
