Balance the deal, PHX-DAL

Dallas gets: Grayson Allen
Phoenix gets: Daniel Gafford

Obviously there are other moves that Dallas would need to make as they're in a difficult apron situation, but the gap between contracts is minor enough for it not to be a huge deal.

Anyway, how many picks or prospects would Phoenix owe in this situation? Would Ryan Dunn be enough? Would they have to throw in one of their late firsts?

I don't think the Sun's owe value. Dallas would need to move Klay for balance but I'd do this.

I've proposed a dozen variants of this deal lol. I like it for both.

I'd ask for a late first. Don't rate Allen at all.

Grayson Allen is actually a good player, Phoenix just has 40 Shooting Guards on their roster. I think at most Phoenix needs to add a second but honestly it’s probably fair straight up

But Daniel Gafford is a great player and is the attitude of this team. Under serious injuries last season, it's Gafford, PJ and Brandon Williams bringing the intensity back. Gafford has averages 1.8 blocks per game and has improved significantly in term of bull. The leadership, attitude, work ethics and passion are tough find. To win anything, the Mavs needs a small Ball center at elite.level who could guard the perimeter.

Meanwhile, Klay is the best perimeter shooter in game. It's hard to justify parting with Gafford for a redundant player. I am not sure I will trade Gafford even for KD. To match the salary, the Mavs has to empty the roster. Given the nature of competition, I want a deep team. I lane towards trading sparing parts for Herb Jones with pick. Try to win this season and build around long a young core with similar age.

Outside of the fact that Dallas needs a scoring PG/ sixth man type, and not another wing, the trade itself is relatively fair value

I think Grayson is going to be traded for a big (5 or 4) and this one makes a lot of sense. Allen has three years on his deal and if you like him, that’s a good thing. I don’t know what Gafford will be looking for on an extension/new contract. I think that would indicate that some value needs to come from the Mavs, but it’s not a lot.

The good thing is his market shouldn't be so strong that he wouldn't extend off his current number. I think if he agrees to an extension as part of the trade, no extra value is needed.

If he says no to that, I can buy Dallas owing something for those extra years of control. Dallas has a future Philly 2nd and a distant DAL 2nd. It's all they've got, but I'd say that would be enough value.

Yeah, like I said, it’s not a lot. A second or two and I agree, if Gafford comes over locked in to a good deal the value is there for the Suns.

Laughable. Dallas says no. Rather play Gafford's contract out and lose him for nothing than take this offer.
