LAL needs a big man badly, POR has too many

LAL send Knecht, FRP, fillers for POR for Robert Williams

This frees up time for POR to develop their young big

Lakers need more reliable than this.

Also, Williams doesn’t have Knecht value. Or 1st round pick value. Let alone Knecht and 1st round pick value.

For a guy on an expiring contract who has played ~60 games over the last 3 seasons, I struggle to see Portland netting more than cap space and a couple of 2nds for Williams.

if Lakers want to send Kleber or Vincent + a couple of 2nd round picks for Williams...that's fine, IMO

if Lakers want a bigger swing, Kleber + Vincent + Vanderbilt for Ayton and Walker...and a couple of 2nd's. But LAL's tax/apron situation might bollix that idea

Williams isn't even worth Knecht, let alone a first rounder as well. Portland would trip over each other to accept this deal.

If Williams was actually a healthy, reliable center, I would consider it. But, since he is not, this wouldn't feel fair at all. I would take a flier on Williams as a back-up center though, but even then wouldn't feel very comfortable. It's like whatever Williams provides while he is healthy is like icing on the cake, but he can't be relied upon to do so. So, imo if LAL were to get Williams, they would also have to obtain a competent third-string big. This now sounds like a lot of hassle. With that said, I imagine LAL may view Thybulle as positive trade value, because they could really use his skillset. But, he is both coming off an injury and like Williams, is expiring so that also lowers his value as well. I imagine LAL might be interested in a combination of the two, with the primary target being Thybulle, with Williams being more of a throw in. Maybe LAL might be interested in something like Kleiber + Vincent + Knecht for Thybulle + Williams + Reath + 2027 2nd. Lakers take a gamble by trading maybe their best trade chip for two high-risk players in Thybulle and Williams. Reath is a throw in, but maybe could serve as that insurance policy third-big to convince LAL to do this? This idea might take some criticism form both sides, which suggests that the trade is fair. All players in the deal except for Knecht are expiring contracts. Knecht is on a cost controlled-rookie deal. The trade i vert close imo. I think Lakers do this only if they are able to also find a competent starting big.

Maybe Kleber + Vincent + Hachimura + Vanderbilt + Knecht for Ayton + Williams + Thybulle + Reath is enough to make this deal go through?

Sorry, havent seen that suggestion that much. Hard to gauge Jazz players real value, really hope to see you guys win some games this year.

Sorry for the terse response. It's come up a lot, unfortunately. I see Kessler as a keeper and that's the sense I get from the team by most accounts.

Winning would be nice, but the direction for Utah seems very much still up in the air with the new(ish) regime. It will make for an interesting summer.

IMO, they will be makeing 2-3 trades, I doubt they'll just make one trade unless it's one big trade like getting; Giannis, Allen etc

If it's for 2nd or 3rd string centers it will be 2-3 trades at best.

This type of trade would allow them to make others. But I think Knecht is worth more then RBIII

I really want Kessler/Collins so bad and even willing to throw in a pick swap and FRP to make it happen, that's my go to.

They would probably have to include a pick swap as well, to make this happen.

It's also a no because Kessler isn't the sort of big they need. They need a rim roller, not a plodder.

Also not a rim roller. Plus they're not doing that given Adam's age/value. Also isn't Adams a FA?

Sure sure...
Lakers will drop below 1st Apron, and send an up and coming lead guard to get a backup center in a S&T.
