Cavs/Blazers/Heat Its Garland
Cavs trade: Garland
Cavs get: Simons/Highsmith/Jovic/#11
Blazers trade: Simons/Scoot/#11
Blazers get: Garland/#20
Heat trade: Highsmith/Jokic/#20
Heat get: Scoot
Cavs downgrade from Garland to Simons but keep that 2nd option to Mitchell while also picking up affordable wing and forward depth and a lotto pick to use or to attach to more expensive salary they just brought in cheaper replacements for to get something else.
Portland doesn't wait and hope on Scoot, they swap him for a good young PG to add to a pretty good young core missing that PG.
Heat trade some minor assets to take a gamble on Scoot's talent. They need an unexpected big hit and they can take this shot and still play in free agency next summer.

Re: Cavs/Blazers/Heat Its Garland
I don’t think the Blazers or Cavs could justify giving up Scoot for this cheap.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Easy no for Portland.
IMO, Heat are stealing a TON of value here

I'd at least cut Miami out and just make it Simons and Scoot for Garland. That said, it feels like a no go either way. Any idea how much money Simons will be looking for?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Simons has never played for a winner and might just sign for around $30 Million/season in an extension
Simons/Scoot for Garland would be an interesting trade

Yeah, Cavs are better off cutting the Heat out and taking Simons/Scoot and #11.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Re: Cavs/Blazers/Heat Its Garland
Hmm wasn't sure how much value Scoot had. I don't like the Cavs just keeping him, but they definitely shouldn't sacrifice value so if I missed badly there, I missed badly.

Yeah, I'm with the group here. Miami should be cut out of this deal.
As for Miami's part; while I agree with the sentiment that the Heat can afford to take chances on a prospect or two, it doesn't make sense to give up a prospect to get a prospect. This is a pick a direction kind of thing. If we're getting Scoot, or a player like him, I think we should be giving up veterans or signing them in free agency on the cheap.

I don’t hate it for Portland. Maybe a slight overpay.
Does feel like Miami is stealing some value, as this assigns quite a bit of value to Jovic/highsmith?

No, it was mostly me assigning like late lotto pick value to Scoot and Cleveland preferring to get different pieces back.
But sounds like everyone else has more value still attached to Scoot that I do not.
My failing is on the value of Scoot.

Re: Cavs/Blazers/Heat Its Garland
This is really, really bad for Cleveland. Table value for the moment.
Does a single one of the returning players start for Cleveland?
What issue does this trade address for the Cavs? What problem does this fix?
These aren't even *good* or *cheap* role players. This is trading your your all star PG for salary filler.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I think it’s pretty close.
Love the idea of Scoot and Simons gone.

Agreed that this feels more like a "Garland refuses to report" kind of offer.
