New Orleans outgoing

CJ McCollum
Kelly Olynyk
#7

Charlotte outgoing

Miles Bridges
Jusuf Nurkic
Nick Smith Jr.
#33
#34
DAL '27 1st rd pick

New Orleans gets a starting center in Nurkic and a starter or sixth man in Miles. Smith Jr. is a possible answer as a starter at point guard. New Orleans has drafted well in recent years in the late first round and in the second round and sees if they can find two contributors in the early second round this draft. They also add an asset in the DAL first round pick.

Smith Jr. / Alvarado
Jones / Reeves / Hawkins
Murphy III / Bridges
Williamson / Matkovic
Nurkic / Missi

#33
#34

Charlotte adds veterans in CJ and Olynyk for the locker room and on the court play. CJ spaces the floor for Ball, Miller and Williams and Olynyk adds spacing at the 4/5 spot. Charlotte adds another lotto pick to have to tries in the lottery or combine #4 and #7 to move up.

What is worth 7 here?

Nurk is terrible.

Bridges is Bridges..

The upside of that Dallas pick is nice, but it’s top 2 protected so there’s an asterisk.

There's nothing of value here that's worth the 7th pick in a strong draft class. Jusef Nurkic contract is only somewhat saved by the fact that he's a expiring contract, but overall he's just junk filler. While Miles Bridges is talented, he's simply not worth the trouble and likely will never hold much value in a trade. The Mavericks 2027 1st round could have some upside, but given that Anthony Davis likely still on the team by then with Cooper Flagg being in his 2nd year, Mavericks the 2027 1st round is very unlikely to be improvement over the 7th pick in this year's draft.

Charlotte cannot say yes fast enough to this.

New Orleans would pretty much have to think Bridges or NSJ is an All-Star level player, which is crazy.

Take out the #7 and the Dallas pick and see how people react. Is Bridges the most valuable one left or is it the two picks? I didn't see anything last year to indicate that either Nurkic or Nick Smith is an NBA starter next year. Nurkic spent most of the year injured and Smith showed neither shooting nor playmaking ability.

If this was 2020 Nurkic and pre assault Bridges, Pels would still probably say no...
