Wolves send: Donte Divincenzo, 17
Hawks send: 13
*Hawks use the Murray TPE to absorb DDV

Why for Minnesota? They move up to get their pick of forwards/bigs (Bryant, Newell, Murray Boyles, Sorber, etc.) or a potential faller. They also open up extra flexibility for the offseason by freeing up over $10mil.

Why for Atlanta? They move down slightly to get a strong sixth man guard who fits well next to Daniels and Young.

I think Atlanta could get similar level shooters for free just by taking on the contract. Might could even get a small incentive on some of them. Not sure they would drop back and take on the money?

Hawks are likely bringing Levert back in that 6th man role. But I could see them preferring DDV at this cost but likely into the MLE and keep the big TPE fully intact.

I don’t have a problem trading DDV into someone’s ntMLE, but if this is all DiVincenzo is worth these days, I think MIN keeps him and develops continuity. We saw in NYK that he can be a player worth a lot more than his $12 mil salary.

The Wolves have a huge need for good rotation players on relatively cheap contracts, so I'm doubtful they would trade DiVincenzo to move up from 17 to 13 in a draft where there is a fairly flat tier of talent from the late lottery to the early 20s.

Minnesota needs to be consolidating their current players to get an upgrade, likely with Randle or Gobert as the basis of salary and value and then bolstered by Picks/Players. They have depth, but they need more higher-end talent.

I don't like this direction for them.

Atlanta shouldn't be doing this either, at least not at this evaluation. They can get a very good player at #13 and I don't consider Donte DiVincenzo to be a needle mover for them, especially not after acquiring similar talented player in Terrence Mann.

Wolves say no. They're trying to win right now. This is horrible for them, because DDV is a good player.

I think it's an interesting trade concept, but I agree with everyone else saying that the value isn't right for Minnesota.
