KD to Spurs & Bane to Rockets

Spurs receive Kevin Durant
Out: Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, #14, Future pic(s)
Spurs keep Castle and #2, land KD and jump start a championship window. I feel like they owe a little bit of value but not sure what to the Grizz.
Rockets receive Desmon Bane
Out: Jalen Green, Tari Eason, #10
Rockets go get a legit scorer who can help open up their playoff offense without dipping into their future draft capital. Secure cap flexibility to re-sign Jabari and Thompson.
Suns receive Jalen Green, Brandon Clark, Tari Eason, #14
Out: Kevin Durant
Suns get what they want with some rotation players and draft capital.
Grizzlies receive Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, #10, Future pic(s) via SAS
Out: Desmon Bane
Grizz reset and gain flexibility. Vassell is a serviceable replacement that doesn’t have creation but is a better defender than Bane. Add #10 and save $20M for the summer of 2026 to resign JJJ.

Something to like and struggle with for every side here, I think.
I do not like this for Memphis, but if there is a pending financial crunch, this helps, still returns a rotation player, and lands them a late lottery pick.
I do not love Durant to San Antonio, but if they want him, this is a good price (without future picks).
I do not like Jalen Green and would not value him in a Durant return, but I understand the motivation for Phoenix to find young talent without draft picks available to them.
Houston will balk at the price on Bane here, but is he not a great fit? I would think so, but I haven't seen that discussed before.
Altogether, it's an earnest attempt at meeting every team's needs.

Without the future picks defined, it's hard to say. It could be good or bad for MEM or SAS. It's a great deal HOU.

Pretty interesting trade that pretty much all team would be like ooooof
It's not an automatic no on any team but also each team would be a bit cringe to do it.
Though in reality that means at least one team will say nah we're good (like Houston).
( There's a decent chance Tari Eason extension isn't that high, he's not made much and has at least some injury concern.)

Future pic(s) from SAS would probably be defined as the high end 2027 ATL 1st and low end a couple seconds. They have swaps that they could transfer too. I mean maybe it’s nothing but I think they are paying more than that for KD.

So this is basically Spurs buying Bane, who in turn is used to buy Tari Eason and Jalen Green, who in turn are used to buy Durant. Seems like a convoluted way to get the Suns more value out of Durant than he's really worth.

Future is capitalised in OP and the word "pic(s)" is used, not "pick(s)".
So it could be multiple pictures of the rapper Future.
Generally I think the proposal is solid but ultimately don't see Rockets giving up Green+Tari+#10 for Bane and if they did then I assume Grizzlies just take that return and it's a 2-team trade.

Yeah, then the Grizz lose their cap flexibility. Get a more expensive guy in Green and will have to resign Tari.

I don't think we are interested in turning Bane into parts, but if we were we likely do take Eason/Green over Vassell/Barnes and unknows future pics that might be 2nds. We can likely pawn off Green to a few teams for expirings willing to gamble on him and keep the 10 and Eason.

That’s fair. Damn. That trade was pretty elegant tho
What if it’s Whitmore and a protected first or couple of seconds headed out of Houston. Are you still cutting the Suns and Spurs out?

Nah. KD is worth that value. It serves each team pretty well but it is flawed.

I'd rather just keep Bane or Tari Eason TBH.

Honestly, I do not think Houston would consider Green, Eason and the 10th pick for Bane.
He's a nice player, and brings a skillset that we desperately need. But, I think Houston will want to try and aim higher than Bane. It could be a smart move for us though.

I'd do it for Hou, would prefer to send another pick instead of Eason but if I had to I would. I love Bane as a target. Houston desperately needs consistent 3PT shooting and it's defense is built around strong POA defenders. Good age, under contract, perfect fit.

Man, you come into every thread and take some sort of slight at Durants value.
We get it, you have your evaluation of Durant.

Swap Eason for Cam and it's fine.
Generally not moving great impact off ball guys.

If Grizz do this deal we cut out Spurs and whoever else and just deal with rockets.

I think Houston’s offer is pretty fair for Bane. I think they can (and should be allowed to) offer different value than Eason.
SAS might owe a really well protected first?
Grizzlies breaking Bane up is the part I’m struggling with. Adding to him to get a better player, I think they should go that route. Or even if they get value back by trading him for KD.. go for a championship while you can... But splitting him up like this doesn’t seem to make sense to me.

I think Eason would be viewed as a starting SF going forward for Memphis and would be a big part of the reason we might agree to trade Bane in this scenario. Now if Houston included enough additional draft capitol to get someone like Herb Jones then that would be possible but swapping someone like Whitemore would be a no go from Memphis pov. A Bane trade would have to return someone that fills a need for us. If we got Eason, Wells would play SG and hope that VWill bounces back, but we would be really lacking in playing making. But still better to stick with Bane and gamble on our current youth.
Adding to him to get a better player....that is my preferred trade using Bane.

Just don’t understand the KD to Spurs chatter. Spurs are several pieces away from contending, not a 37 year old KD away.
