Sixers out: #3 and PG
Sixers in: #6, Khris Middleton, Mo Wagner, Gary Harris
Trade PG for 52.5M in expirings at the expense of trading back from 3 to 6. The Embiid/PG/Maxey trio to win a championship is obviously dead (before it ever started), it would be smart to hit the eject button and try again next offseason
Magic out: Anthony Black, Jett Howard, Mo Wagner, Gary Harris
Magic in: Jordan Poole
Magic need a shot making G and take a chance on Poole as a spark scorer that doesn’t need to be the 1st or 2nd scoring option for the bottom of their roster salaries. Black and Howard can be replaced with their 2 1st’s in this draft.
Wizards out: #6, Khris Middleton, Jordan Poole
Wizards in: #3, PG, Anthony Black, Jett Howard
Wiz may be willing to overpay PG to sell tickets while they continue to rebuild. #3 pick can be a difference maker and Black and Howard are still interesting enough prospects to give mins to on a bad team. PG will be a valuable expiring contract by the time Wash is ready to compete.

Poole isnt worth that. Were not giving up Anthony Black and Mo for Poole.

Total non-starter financially for Orlando, definitely try to cut them or bring someone else in

The Wizards would deal with Philly directly if they would accept an offer like this.

Really really bad for Orlando. Wizards arent really sacrificing much here taking on PG13 when they get to dump Poole

Only Washington even considers this.
The Sixers’ current core is dead and it’s time to rebuild, so let’s de-value 3OA to save money is quite the thought process.

The Magic should consider something like this, even if you shuffle around the outgoing contracts. They need a scoring guard, and have the defense to cover for them. And the pieces the Magic seem to be okay moving aren't going to bring you a high end guy.
The Wiz are obviously ecstatic and can't sign on the dotted line fast enough.
The Sixers get a worse prospect and they get worse on the court to save long term money. That's not at all a Morey move.

The Wizards trading the #6 to Philly for the #3 in exchange for absorbing Paul George makes sense for both sides, but it's very difficult for regular fans to evaluate exactly how much an owner is willing to sacrifice to save money. Obviously, it's not our money so what do we care. Washington fans will scream "do it!" and Philly fans will scream "no effing way!". The real question is, how much financial pain does Philly's owner want to bear, and we just don't know the answer to that.
But if Philly really did value the financial savings and cap savings, then a deal between Washington and Philly is pretty straightforward.
I'd treat the Orlando part of this as a separate transaction. I don't really have much interest in Black from the Wizards standpoint so this doesn't appeal to me. Likewise, Orlando doesn't seem all that excited about Poole at his contract, and that's understandable. Poole is actually pretty darn good offensively, but Orlando has cap management concerns that can't be ignored.

I’d be very interested in Poole, but not in paying much to take on his deal.

I don't think Anthony Black is worth much of anything tbh. I'm not sure what Orlando fans are holding onto. They are clearly upgrading from him next year.

This is trash.
Middleton was better than PG-13 last year, is a year younger, and is owed $130M LESS.
It's not my money, but I MIGHT do this for 18, not 6.

I'm just curious how you got from 3 + PG for 18 + Middleton being fair to PG + 3 for 6 making sense in the span of a few weeks. That's quite the difference.

It's a direction that makes sense. It's probably too rich for my blood, but maybe Washington's owner is willing to pay that.
I'm also thinking that maybe the Wizards could flip PG for Beal and reduce the cap burden by a year.

Yes, yes, I know, PG is the worst contract in the history of the association, got it.
Leave him out of the deal then since the Sixers do not agree with your assessment anyway.
The Sixers are not tanking this year. They are trying to at least tread water to send a middling pick to OKC. If you want to discuss getting paid to take back bad contracts, it's getting tabled until summer 2026.
Not saying the Sixers would do it then, but at least it's a discussion at that point.

Was Nate actually proposing a straight 3 + George for 18 + Middleton a few weeks ago?

Yes. We went back and forth a few times (politely) about it, which is why I was so confused. I’m not in any way trying to have that discussion all over again, but for your reference:
The Sixers/Wizards trade that makes more sense would be something centered around the Wizards eating Paul George's contract in exchange for the #3 pick. A Paul George for Khris Middleton trade is only a minor on-the-court drop-off but results in Philly saving $128M in salary over the next 3 seasons and probably a ton more than that after factoring the luxtax savings.
Something like Middleton plus #18 for Paul George and #3 is honestly fair. Nobody on this board will like it because fans don't care about saving money, but if Philly's owner is going to save $150M or so, that's something to consider.
