SAS - Dallas
Dallas trade: Lively, PJ
SAS trade: Castle, filler (Branham or Wesley?)
Why for SAS: Trade from area of strength to fill holes in their front court
Why for Dallas: Get long term running mate for Flagg. Castle fits well next to Irving

Re: SAS - Dallas
It would be hilarious if the Rookie of the Year was traded for this package, a middling starting Center with an early-career injust and an expiring starting wing.
I have Castle worth this, at least to the Spurs, and in terms of upside, where they wouldn't consider this.

Re: SAS - Dallas
I'm a fan of all three players but not of swapping them. Castle is not so great an upside play that Dallas should take the short-term hit in rotation quality if they're trying to win with AD/Flagg/(eventually)Kyrie... but he does have enough upside that the Spurs likewise shouldn't sacrifice him for middling upgrades.

I think his upside is capped if Harper delivers on his promise and Fox signs an extension. But understand if spurs fans feel differently

Re: SAS - Dallas
Lively has had a lot of bloom come off his rose after last year and Spurs fans want Wemby to be a full-time center so they are going to hate this.
I don't believe in Castle as an offensive PG so I'm not interested in Dallas, but I understand value is good here for Dallas.

Spurs getting hosed. I just don't see much point in them moving Castle now, unless it's part of a package for a star.

Oh boy, I'm going to skip what I actually think about this deal, go into zen mode, and just say that the sensible move here would be trading a much more modest package for PJ rather than going for Lively. What would the Mavs want for PJ/Gafford? (either/both).

Deal is fair but don't like the Wemby-Lively fit

We'll worry about that when it happens.

Wow, that's a hell of a lot for Dallas to give up to acquire Michael Carter-Williams.

MCW if he was bigger, longer, stronger, had dunk contest athleticism, and was better in almost every conceivable way.

No interest, Castle isn't the guard Mavs need at all, I also think the value is fair.

Re: SAS - Dallas
Value is good for Dallas IMO. But I only want Castle back in an AD trade, not a trade that isn’t abandoning this two timeline thing.
Castle for AD based idea… (you can say Dallas has to add or SAS has to add whichever you think).. seems to make more sense for both sides.
Lively is Wemby’s backup and Castle isn’t solving Dallas’ short term problems. So now Dallas has to still go find a decent PG and has to replenish the big man depth.
Where as AD for Castle means SAS is ready to actually contend if Wemby is healthy/improved and Dallas is ready to tank a season and come out of the 2026 draft with 4 nice young pieces that should all fit decently together..

And 2 years younger at the time he was drafted, and his rookie season wasn't his best

Re: SAS - Dallas
For the record, these are the proposals that I think are doomed from the start, as they create more problems than they solve and have the teams parting wiht players they don't want to. Just focus on the actual areas of need, and go from there, in this case it could be something around PJ Washington or Gafford to the Spurs or some other team for a non premium asset or player.

Ridiculously in favor of Spurs. Start with Wemby.

Spurs need a backup center, a rim protector for the non Wemby minutes where they usually collapse. But obviously not a starting caliber center.

Violation of board policy against stupid counters. Do not do this, Darren.
