Brooklyn & Memphis & Portland

Combining some recent thoughts on this board.
BKN Out: #19, #26
BKN In: #11, Brandon Clarke
MEM Out: Desmond Bane, Brandon Clarke
MEM In: Shaedon Sharpe, Jerami Grant, #19, #26
POR Out: Shaedon Sharpe, Jerami Grant, #11
POR In: Desmond Bane
Brooklyn moves up to the #9-12 range they have been rumored to be interested in moving up to. The cost is #26 and Clarke's salary (12 Million each of this and next year).
Memphis re-shapes the roster, clears salary in order to re-negotiate and extend Jaren Jackson Jr, and backfills the end of rotation once again with multiple late 1sts.
Portland decides to add a sharp-shooting 2-Guard who fits squarely between Scoot and Camara/Deni. Instead of paying Sharpe in a year, they pay the proven Bane.

way too good for Portland imo. They owe another pick (at least) or make it Ayton instead of Grant. Also a bit too good for brooklyn. 19 + 26 = 15 roughly. dont think eating clarke moves you into the lotto.
Value aside, this adds a lot of salary to memphis books next year when sharpe is due a new contract

From the Memphis perspective, the Grant contract seems to be a non-starter.

My first thought as well. Grant is going to be a problem in retaining Sharpe.

Yeah... Shaedon for Bane is questionable enough for Memphis because obviously Bane is a lot better, and the savings may not amount to all that much once Sharpe is extended. Then the Blazers get to dump Grant, too?

The Nets would be cut and Portland would just take in Clarke. But Grant's contract and lack of rebounding skills make this a no go for Memphis.

That would likely put Portland in the tax, no?

The money won't work once the Grizz have to resign Sharpe. That Grant deal would have to go to BRK, it's the only way to justify this deal.
Sharpe is unfortunately one of those dudes that is exciting to watch play once a week against the Wizards, so he's going to either get the Max or the Rj Barrett contract. Either way, that is still a ton of money going forward with Grant signed long term.
BRK is getting way to much for doing absolutely nothing in this trade. Swap Grant and Clarke and this deal makes way more sense, and BRK already said they are willing to take on contracts for draft capital. I like the idea though, and played around with it, and came up with this that works in a quick espn machine:
MEM gets- Cam Johnson and Sharpe
Por gets- Bane and Whitehead
BRK gets- Grant #11 and their pick of GG Jackson/Wells/Williams Jr and future pick from MEM
BRK eats a ton of money, but gets another lottery pick and future pick, and a promising young prospect for cheap. They might need to get a handful of 2nds from MEM as well given in this scenario they are giving up Cam, but that 11 pick has value, and so does GG or Wells. The way I view it is GG/Wells and 11 is the value for Cam, and the future MEM FRP and 2nds the value to dump Grant.
Por obviously gives up the best prospect and best pick, but they clear money, and get a legit SG on that roster, while not having to worry about paying Sharpe a contract he might not live up to. Bane is still just 26, and is a legit 50/40/90 player who can play on or off ball.I know POR fans value Sharpe more than most, but he's probably not going to be as good as Bane imo and idk how much youll like him when hes making 35-40 mil after this season. Him and 11 is slight overpay for Bane potentially, but dumping Grant in the process swings the pendulum in my opinion. They also get a look at Whitehead who was a FRP and can fill it up from 3.
MEM gives up the best player a future pick and a young prospect, but they get the reliable Cam finally to be their wing who is also a 50/40/90 guy, and get Sharpe to replace Bane. Giving up one of their picks hurts, as does having to pay Sharpe, but I think that team would have the legit chance to contend. I could also see them making this a 4 team trade and sending Sharpe to another team for better assets.

I'd rather build through the draft and let Sharpe test RFA. The guy at 11 could be better, you never know. Besides I don't Portland should make moves like this until they have THE DUDE that's gonna make them serious.

I'm still a believer in Sharpe and think the Blazers are too early to make an all-in move. But if we were to do something like this, why not use Ayton's expiring contract instead of bleeding value trying to dump Grant as well?

Good deal for Brooklyn and Portland. Why is Memphis doing this again?
