OKC/MIL

OKC trades Topic, Hartenstein, Isaiah Joe, Dieng, Kenrich Williams, the following picks:
2025 1st MIA (#15)
2026 1st PHI (top 4 prot till 2027 otherwise 2nd)
2026 1st best of OKC/HOU/LAC
2026 1st second best of OKC/HOU/LAC
2027 1st DEN (top 5 prot till 2029 otherwise 2nd)
2028 1st best of OKC/DAL
Milwaukee trades Giannis
--
Milwaukee gets a haul of 6 1sts (a couple with real upside), and a wild card prospect in Topic to kickstart their rebuild. Hartenstein and Joe could probably fetch some additional value in a followup trade as well.
For OKC... it's clear the team as constructed isn't the dynasty the regular season made everyone think they were, and they need a real running mate for SGA. They upgrade Hartenstein with their wealth of assets and make it happen for the next few years. Whether they win or not, help is needed if OKC wants to take advantage of this window with no other "dynasty" worthy teams standing in their way. Go all the way in with SGA, Giannis, JDub, Chet, Dort, Caruso, and figure out the bench later.

OKC needs to include 1 of jdub or Holmgren in a deal for giannis

Okc is not getting Giannis without giving up at least one of Chet or J Dub

I don't even know why you would hesitate to include one of Jalen Williams or Chet Holmgren for Giannis Antetokounmpo. They are good players but have clear weaknesses and don't have a surefire way to become a top 10 player in the NBA. It also saves OKC multiple 1sts, since each is valued at 2-3 1sts, minimum.
The problem with the OP deal is that there isn't one asset that pops out. There is no Sengun or young star piece. There isn't a Top 2 pick in this year's draft.
I still think Portland is a Dark Horse for Giannis.

What is Portland offering that "pops out"?

Probably nothing, but it isn't their fault, they don't have Chet or JDub
Compared to this offer?
From me, Scoot and Sharpe are more valuable than anything here, and #11 > #15.

Giannis is not being moved. Definitely not for this.

Literally not one good asset in this, not close at all. Bucks aren’t trading Giannis, it would need to be the largest haul in the history of the NBA. Not a poo poo platter of the most middling picks possible. The pile that OKC has is very overrated, its quantity not quality.

It should be Chet - Hart + Wallace + 5 1sts for OKC to show they are serious

If OKC wins this series, which is still a coin flip, there’s no way they break up the team.
But also don’t see Milwaukee taking the OP at all. Especially since the Bucks don’t have their picks. Which is why I like someone like Cleveland as a trade partner.

That would be a big mistake.

Could you try to engage with me by providing more than a context less half-sentence?
It can be a bit annoying when I spend some time and thought and am met with a empty statement.

It would be a big mistake for POR to make a move for GA because of the cost to acquire him (if that were even possible) and the lack of complementary talent to maximize the chances to win it all with a top tier talent like GA.
There is little shooting on POR, for one, and little left on the cupboard to trade for shooting in this hypothetical GA deal.
Quality FA do not sign in POR.
I do think MIL should move GA because it seems unlikely they can reload around he and Lillard in 2 years considering their assets to do so.

These statements are contradictory. We don't know what Milwaukee prefers or values in a trade for Giannis. It is possible 4 1sts and Scoot/Sharpe are enough.

Teams can acquire shooting for cheap.
Quality FA do not sign in POR.
Quality FA don't sign anywhere. Quality players rarely hit free agency to begin with.

If Giannis doesn't want to be traded, the Bucks won't trade him.

This is exactly right. The more interesting question is "Should Milwaukee trade Giannis?" because it seems like all indications are they won't be trading him, right or wrong.

I know it's a fantasy board, but once Giannis came out and said he's staying, hypothetical Giannis trades got a lot less interesting.

Yeah, and it is why there were a lot fewer Giannis trades on this forum once the news broke.

Unless a younger star is on the table they shouldn’t. They wouldn’t be as good anyway so might as well go all in and try to make another finals.
They can rebuild when he has retired or when he asked out. But before that always try and compete.
