I think Brooklyn shouldn't been sending out 36 here using 28m of their capspace.

Plus I wouldn't go this route for Portland. Garland as 3rd best guy might work, but if you don't have your one or two yet figured (Deni maybe a 3rd best guy...Sharpe has a chance) out then I think it kind of puts you in no man's land of winning 36-42 games and getting middling picks. Could work if the current youth breaks out or you get lucky in the draft but likely not a high odds move of leading to real success.

i think 26 + 36 = ~23. i have eating 28M = another pick in early 20s which adds up to ~16

i like the idea of adding a star PG for Portland to help the rest of the team grow their game. Phoenix was a mess before they got Paul. Garland is young and fits well with the core. it's a gamble though as you said

Yes, Orlando needs shooting but they can find it for much cheaper elsewhere. Acquiring Simons almost forces them to sign him to a 4yr./80-100M contract.

Cleanest trade would be a two part with Portland so Cavs can aggregate.

I like Isaac. I like trading up for capspace, but I would need 11 and Black instead of 16 and Cole.

Easy pass for Portland. So much money to upgrade point guard but then be right back in a search for a high end forward.

Trading for developmental players and draft picks is not something the Cavs are going to do. They won 64 games this year and are expecting to play better in the playoffs next year.

If the Cavs are interested in cutting cash they’re still getting a playoff-caliber player back. They send Garland to Brooklyn for Cam Johnson, or Hunter to Brooklyn for nothing.

What they definitely don’t do is bring back a guy who’s still years from helping them contend, a late lottery pick, and a decent 2nd.

I don't love the deal, but feel this one should be limited to Portland and Cleveland:

My reactions for each:
Cavs: On paper seems really light for Garland, borderline all-star for magic beans, but then I look at HC Atkinson and I remember all the lead guards he has developed... It's a deal that could work for sure.

Portland: Not really sure how much Simons to Garland is in terms of an upgrade, probably feel underwhelmed if I am being honest.

Nets: JI had one healthy year... now he is on a long term deal again. I think I would need a lot to convince me to take that. Pretty much hate it for them.

Magic: I mean it's a really good haul.

Yuck, I don't have Simons as a positive contract. I don't have him as better than Ty. We don't save money. We don't get better defensively. We just get worse offensively. Scoot isn't even a replacement level PG. He averaged less than 13 ppg.

CLE needs an upgrade but won’t get a difference maker without moving a core piece.

Not saying this is the right move necessarily but they need to make a change.

The Cavs won 64 games last year. The East will be worse in 26 than it was in 25. They don’t need to make a trade.
