close to MLE. pretty good deal for Adams. Rockets need FVV to take a big discount to avoid the tax now?

He can still get over $30m aav and stay under, don't have the exact number off the top of my head, gotta imagine they're also close to a number there bc there's no way they'd let Fred walk bc they paid Adams

As an OKC fan this hurts to see Adams get locked up with Houston improving their culture and defense for years to come.
But good for him too. Adams made himself a lot of money with his impact on Houston and the continued hard work and great locker room contributions paid off.

Lower than I expected, which was 16 per year.
But maybe its 16 starting and descends

I am shocked Adams got this much and even more shocked that, with this contract, he has ~$200M in career earnings. $200M!!!

He’s now eligible to be included in a Durant trade, and he won’t be BYC.

Smart. 3 years. Right above the MLE so more than he would have gotten FA. I mean I am sad because I want him on my team, but this was wise.

My first thought.
The center the Suns need.

I don't think it's that simple, he would count as a S&T, and Suns can't drop below 1st Apron easily.

Correct. Like Adams for a third team’s center, that goes to PHX to improve a Durant trade.

Thought the last day for extension was tied to the regular season not the playoffs?
Meaning this should be a new contract, not an extension and Adams can’t be traded for 6 months?
Shams calling it an extension, with the June 30th deadline makes me feel like I’m wrong on that..

Had a look on spotrac and there’s not many with extension eligible before July 1st.
Vucevic
Naz Reid
Harrison Barnes
Think it has to do with when they extended last contract? E.G lonzo is eligible on 2nd June 27.

Not sure obviously.
I didn’t think contracts could be extended after the last day of the regular season when the contract ends that season* they have his rights so can obviously “extend” / resign him. Just thought he’d be limited to (follow up trade restrictions) as other free agents.
Not that it matters much as I think due to front loading, he got too big a raise to be traded for 6 months anyways? 5% limit

Old CBA was 105%, new one is 120%. Is under that limit.
