Great trade for them-adding assets and start fresh. They clear cap, add picks/prospects and come with a whole new team

#1-JJJ for Sochan/KJohnson/#2 pick.
SA adds a young All Star and becomes an epic team
Fox/Castle
Vassell/Castle
Barnes/Champaigne
JJJ/?
Wemby/Sorber (#14)

#2 JA to BRK for #8, #19 and the 2027/29/31 NYK picks
BRK adds a star, and has a core lineup of Ja/Cam/Claxton, with space to add more. Not sure on Cam Thomas (is he a winning player?). Ja would sell tickets in NYC and maybe draw another star

BRK ends up with
Harper/Pippen Jr/Cole A
Wells/KCP/KJohnson
GG Jackson/Koncar
Sochan/Clarke
Eddy/Huff
They pick BPA at #8/#19
Plus a TON of future Orl/NY picks, and the Suns pick next year-plus a 2030 pick and A LOT of open cap space. Their own pick would be top 5 next year in a stocked lotto

JJJ is expiring and is getting maxed in FA, not big advantage to have his bird rights, he's not getting you #2 in this status.

Ja is too risky for a team to offer that kind of package. No way I can see the Nets remotely considering that.

I agree JJJ isn't worth #2 and I wouldn't want to commit max money to a guy who isn't All-NBA or even a perennial all-star.

I love this idea, but I think Memphis would probably just much prefer to keep the #2 pick. Especially if they could end up with 2/8/19, they’ve got a bunch of future picks already, maybe it’s Ja for for 8, 19 and the 29 first or something? Memphis will want the next guy to build around as early as possible.

i think Memphis has to add a decent bit to JJJ to get #2, and they probably should. Maybe 1-2 of the Knicks picks?

It's an advantage to the extent that he could extend immediately upon getting traded. If you're uncomfortable paying him 30% of the cap, that's another story.

I'm trying to come up with the best player ever traded for the No. 1 pick overall, the best player I can come up with is Kevin Love, and the Cavs had to add draft capital to Wiggins to get the deal done. Maybe there's a team that will put a better player than JJJ on the table for Harper, but I'm skeptical.

I don't think it works for SAS due to what's going to happen to their cap; both Fox and JJJ on something very like 30% apiece, and Wemby getting 35% in another 2 years...

The Supermax for a rookie extension is 30%, so it would be 90% of the salary cap for three players.

The luxury tax is around 120%.

The second apron is around 135%.

It's therefore probably possible to stay under the luxury tax before the Wemby extension. Then, you still have 45% of the salary cap to fill the roster while staying under the second apron in 2027.

The real issue arises the following year (2028), when/if Castle gets a max contract. It will not be sustainable to have four max contracts at the same time.

This is close to fair value for JJJ. Maybe the Grizzlies throw in a couple of 2nd round picks to the Spurs and the Spurs ether remove Sochan and/or the Grizzlies add in a future pick swap?

On the Nets side, this is big price to pay for uncertainty. Come off of having a off season by his standards and he has a history of maturity issues. Maybe get rid of 19th pick, along with 2 of the Knicks picks and I could the Nets being willing to trade for him then.

This Nets fan wants us to pursue Ja this summer, but not at this price point. I could do Cam Johnson and 19, but not pure capspace or #8, and not the additional NYK picks. If that's too paltry, fair, you may find another team willing to pay more. I don't think we'll sell the farm for Morant.
