Magic already did their part.

Memphis get more rebounding and can go huge with Lauri/JJJ/Edey or simply use Lauri/JJJ and Edey off bench. They still add draft assets.

Jazz move on from Lauri for 2 of the Magic FRPs.

I'm not moving Lauri for two picks from the Magic. I don't see much of a value gap between Lauri and Bane.

Ya It looks like the RealGM valuations are off, not that it's a huge surprise.

As for OP.. I don’t think this is the right pivot for Memphis. (Maybe just because I’m a Dallas fan dreaming of AD for KCP+picks)

I think gap between Bane and Lauri is 2 FRPs.

Bane has been consistently impactful for several seasons. Efficiency stays the same even without Ja, even when usage increases.
Lauri has been inconsistent and injured and is coming off a rough season.
Bane also costs about $10m less per season than Lauri.

Also worth noting Orlando supposedly valued Bane being on a longer contract which Lauri also has a long contract. People on here often refer to Lauri’s contract as a negative but for some teams like Orlando that might be a good thing. I’m not arguing one way or another, just worth noting it might not be the negative issue some portray.

Edit - just noticed this was Memphis getting Lauri, not Orlando. Kind of makes my post irrelevant but whatever. Maybe Memphis also values a longer contract. Lauri and JJJ next to each other would be a good combination.

We clearly aren't saying Lauri is negative value here though, he's getting 2 FRPs on top of useful players.

Wrong thread? But yep that was an idea I considered. Wouldn't pay 16 for sexton/cole swap. But getting JJJ money makes sense but dumping Clarke as part of it.

I'm all in favor of trading Lauri, but not for this. I also don't see a value gap of 2 1sts at all even with what happened last season. There is no high-variance asset, no good prospect, all the players coming back are neutral at best contracts, Clarke is a terrible fit, Cole is a terrible fit, and KCP needs to be flipped somewhere else.

I like that broad swap, too (Clarke/Anthony 16 for Sexton). Utah gets a pretty good pick for taking on the future money and swapping for a worse player, Memphis gets a 6th man and some savings.

Realgm updated the picks owed it looks like, I looked at the 2026 pick owed to Orlando which is the worst of all those picks. Yah, if it is the Phoenix first I think this trade is fine. I disagree on the difference between Bane/Lauri in value, but if Orlando overpays for Bane that is their issue.

OP is fair if its 2026 1st but ainge wont admit lauri is 2 1sts and a swap less than Bane.

Yah, Lauri's best year was starting at SF. I think he is better at PF but he is still great at SF.

Just not a believer as Lauri as a full time SF. He needs to be a pf to justify his contract. plus need more playmaking out our 3rd max.
