Charlotte outgoing
LaMelo Ball
Miami outgoing
Nikola Jovic
Kel'el Ware
Keshad Johnson
Duncan Robinson
#20
Charlotte decides to build around Brandon Miller and brings in some cost controlled good potential players. And adds another in #20. Duncan can be flipped.
Miami gets a star in LaMelo to pair with Herro and Bam to make a playoffs push.

LaMelo is an All Star and the only reason to go watch the Hornets. Trading him for a bunch of no-names would ensure even less people go watch that team than usual.

So, we give up Ware, Jovic, and 20 for a guy who's going to play 20 games?
No, I'm good.

Easy no from Charlotte, none of these guys are even starters.

Just to put it into terms OP would understand, this would be like Charlotte asking NOLA to trade Zion for Josh Green, Moussa Diabate and the worst of PHX/WAS/MEM/ORL 2026 1st
There's just nothing of interest here.

You're at least 1 unprotected pick away from Charlotte remotely considering this, probably 2.

We wouldn't give up the initial offer, much less adding two picks. Guy is incredibly injury prone.

That's fine. I don't really care what Miami would give up. I care about the most valuable asset in the deal and making sure the value matches if Miami did want to acquire Ball.

I don't see a trade for Ball going through unless he has a healthy, successful season first and Charlotte sells high. As it is, he represents too much risk to pay a price the Hornets would except. This thread is a useful illustration -- neither team would make this deal.

You're free to any opinion you'd like but no one is giving up the kind of value you think he has until he shows he can be healthy. And since no one is giving up that kind of value until then, I would argue that right now, he doesn't have that value.
You're assigning value on where Ball should be, not where he is. No one is paying that premium until he actually is there.
