JAilblazer v2 (Memphis - Portland)

Memphis out: Morant
Portland out: Scoot, Simons, 11, MIL owed swaps and picks
Why for Portland: add a star PG to win now
Why for Memphis: get high variance post giannis prime picks and a recent lotto pick to headline their rebuild

I cant see a team that was just put up for sale making a splash trade for a guy with as checkered a past as Morant.

Zero interest from POR.
POR has been hypersensitive about players with off court issues since the Jailblazers ended.
The value is irrelevant. POR won’t acquire a guy like Morant or Williamson.

I'll defer to the Portland posters on Ja specifically and their willingness to touch him. But I think this is the sort of deal Portland should be looking for. Add a star to the mix and PG is the natural position.

POR should not do it. I see Simons’ face as a the franchise and city face. Ja clearly doesn’t fit.

No argument in terms of talent. I would be very surprised to see it happen.

If it weren’t for his off court stuff, I think it would be a quick yes from Portland. Personally, I’d consider it anyway, but I don’t think the team would.

Portland should do the opposite and load up on picks by sending Deni for 3 of those picks and Wells or Clarke to Memphis to replace Bane. Deni is on a descending deal that pays out 12 million in 3 years when the cap is gonna be 240 million. He put up 20, 8 and 6 on 63 TS the last half of the season. I expect him to up those numbers even more as number one option next year in Portland, but i think he's more of a number 3 on a good team -- enter Memphis with JJJ and Ja.
They'll probably trying to get Giannis or KD, but i don't think that's happening. Deni would be a good fallback but they're gonna have to pony up a godfather deal after what they sold Bane for and the performance Deni had after the deadline.

I’d love Deni on the Knicks and with his contract, a lot of contenders should be looking to acquire him.

NYK not really a great trading partner for POR.

The offer is Deni for Clarke + three 1sts? Because that´s an easy yes for Memphis

That is an easy yes for Memphis, but an easy no for Portland.

That’s pretty much breaking even for what POR paid; pointless.

Deni is worth that + an additional 1st.
I know some people will think that it's a lot for Deni. But when you consider that he's nearly as good as Bane is, and is paid $30m less per season, it's fair.
The key is finding a good trading partner - I think Memphis makes a lot of sense. Spurs are another party.

What about
3 unprotected 1sts (via MEM or ORL)
Cole (exp.)
GG Jackson

No indication either ORL or MEM are going to have good picks to offer and the players are irrelevant.

How much indication did you see years before that Atlanta with Young or Dallas with Doncic will get #1?
