Minnesota get Durant (with Suns/Nets)

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Tue Jun 17, 2025 12:34 am

It looks like it's going to be very difficult for Minnesota to keep Naz without going over the 2nd apron and they will lose NAW if they do.

I think Nets will go for Naz in FA.
This trade proposal starts with Minny recognising that they can offer a future SRP if the Nets do an SnT with them.

Nets get Naz(SnT - $24m), SRP

Wolves get Durant
Wolves give Randle, DDV, Naz (SnT - $24m), SRP

Suns get Randle, DDV, $12m TPE
Suns give Durant

Nets get what they were going after and a free future SRP for playing along.

Wolves only need to move Randle+DDV for Durant, they end up with this squad:
Conley, Ant, JMac, Durant, Gobert -- Dilly, NAW ($10m), TSJ, Minott, TaxMLE ($4m) -- #17, #31, Clark, Miller, Garza
They can spend $14m on NAW and a TaxMLE player for the bench and still stay under the 2nd apron.

Suns get what the Wolves got for KAT (minus the FRP). Seems like a fair value exchange and the best offer Suns get is useful players to help their squad make the playoffs.

I would do this (it’s something I’ve thrown around on the Minnesota forum), but logistically, I just don’t see it. My understanding is that the Brooklyn Nets cannot negotiate with Naz Reid until free-agency opens up, so this would take agreeing to a framework two weeks in advance and (functionally) circumventing the CBA.

This would happen once FA opens up, not before FA.
