Pelicans Tear it Down... Help Balance with NOP/PHX/MIA/DAL

Pelicans tear it down and collect assets and young players. Need help balancing the picks, but believe the core players in the trade make sense.

TRADE

NOP In - Wiggins, Rozier, Jovic (22), Christie (22), OMax Prosper (22), MIA (via GSW) 2025 FRP, MIA 2026 FRP, PHX (via CLE) 2025 FRP, PHX (via UTA, CLE, or MIN) 2027 FRP, DAL 2029 FRP
NOP Out - Zion, Murphy, Alvarado

PHX In - Zion, PJ Washington
PHX Out - Durant, PHX (via CLE) 2025 FRP, PHX (via UTA, CLE, or MIN) 2027 FRP

MIA In - Durant, Hardy
MIA Out - Wiggins, Rozier, Jovic (22), MIA (via GSW) 2025 FRP, MIA 2026 FRP

DAL In - Murphy, Alvarado
DAL Out - PJ Washington, Christie (22), Hardy (22), OMax Prosper (22), DAL 2029 FRP

WHY?

NOP - They basically decide Zion is not it and maximize the value of Murphy as part of a complete tear down and rebuild. They flip those two players for 5 future 1sts and 3 young players under team control on rookie contracts to start over. Jovic and Christie have showed promise but need more playing time. It would be assumed Wiggins could be flipped for another future 1st to a contender needing a wing. This move would also massively clear the books for 2027 with CJ and Rozier's expiring

PHX - With the suns future basically mortgaged away already and no intent to trade Booker. This trade would give them a youngish player in Zion with star potential to pair with Booker (high risk for sure). They also would get PJ to balance the roster and hope that this could help boost Beal's production. This team doesn't compete for a title, but is competitive for the next few years

Starters - Booker/Beal/O'Neal/PJ/Zion

MIA - They would trade for Durant (and sign him to an extension) as well as add some additional depth to recoup players traded in Hardy. Simply put they have a chance because they are in the East and retain most of their core players. I assume they re-sign Mitchell to run point as well.

Starters - Mitchell/Hero/Jaquez/Durant/Bam

DAL - This trade would help balance the team positionally with the arrival of Flagg and find a PG who can fill the gap until Kyrie returns. The team has enough depth, assuming reasonable health, to still be competitive in the West and gets slightly younger

Starters - Kyrie (Alvarado Interm)/Murphy/Flagg/AD/Lively

There is a lot to unpack here.

I am going to ignore and omit the Zion part as I feel like the situation surrounding him is impossible to parse at the moment.

Miami can't trade their 2026 1st since they owe a 2027 1st to Miami from the Rozier deal.

Dallas can't trade their 2029 1st, but they do have the LAL 2029 1st.

Ultimately, it was at least 1 1st short for Trey Murphy. I think Murphy is a comparable player to Mikal Bridges and will command similar/slightly less.

Going to focus on Dallas since I know the OP did -- PJ Washington and either the 29 LAL or 31 DAL(whichever one the OP meant here) aren't likely compelling to the Pels for Murphy and none of the rest of the stuff Dallas sends out adds any real value especially with GTA coming back as well. Value feels well short to me.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I did forgot about the Zion situation right now which probably makes this deal a non starter. But assuming he is cleared...

I would say LAL 2029 1st is given, since its with no protections, likely would be enough with maybe a 2026 swap?

For Miami you are right. I would have to swap it out for the 2030 pick.

Dallas isn’t giving up nearly enough and New Orleans isn’t getting enough. It’d take an overpay for Trey Murphy (even moreso if Zion is moved) based on his age and trajectory. Also, Alvarado doesn’t have a ton of trade value, but his dirt cheap contract certainly makes him more valuable than a throw-in.

I'm absolutely against any deal that sees us trading value for Durant. I don't want him. That being said, I could see Miami doing this, but I would hope cooler heads would stop this deal.
