Kings want a pick

Post#1 » by SNPA » Wed Jun 18, 2025 5:44 pm

That’s the rumor in Sac. Which teams are selling? The Nets obviously. Who else?

If Sac is trying to trade into the draft they clearly have a target or two so higher up the better.

What can they get using Spurs 27/Minny31/Monk/JV?

OKC fans typically like PJ for Dieng+15. and Dallas fans typically like PJ+Martin+seconds for Monk.. Leaves Sac getting Martin, Dieng, 15 for Monk.. seconds go to OKC or Sac..

But could also be 14 for the 2027 SAS first and something minor?

If they can use Monk to get to 15 I think they have to do that if they see a PG of the future or starting PF.

This seems like a pretty reasonable offer. Monk + 2nds for a modest bad contract + 15 feels about right value wise.

Spurs can probably sell 14, but not for their own 27 pick back, as I assume they don't see themselves a lottery team in 2 years. They probably ask for a future unprotected pick from the Kings, if not more.

I've yet to hear anything concrete about this...

The Spurs/Timberwolves picks would be underrated and not dealt for the worth they could be top ten picks (wemby durability issues, who knows what they wolves will be)

Team is about winning now, this pick stuff just seems radio made

Rumors are Raptors may want to trade down if Maluach is not available.

SAC trades: Monk, Valanciunas, 2027 SAS 1st, 2031 MIN 1st
in: Barrett, 9

BRK trades: Johnson, 26, 27
in: Clarke, Konchar, 2027 SAS 1st, 2031 MIN 1st

TOR trades: Barrett, 9
in: Johnson, Valanciunas, 18

MEM trades: Clarke, Konchar, 18
in: Monk, 26, 27

I generally agree with this -- unless the Spurs just really want that pick back to have more control of future picks in other trades, I'd imagine 14 this year will be a better pick than the 27 pick, where I imagine they'll be a playoff team by then. So a straight up swap probably isn't it and they'd ask for more. The unprotected pick is overkill though.

I like getting 9. But the idea of Demar, Barrett, LaVine being on the same team makes me want to throw up

If the Spurs have a trade to get back into the first from 38, I wouldn't mind selling 14 for a future pick. Maybe:

14 and Branham
for
MIN31 and Valanciunas

The Spurs get their backup center while preserving the MLE for another player.
The Kings get a lotto pick and can take a flier on a guard who has talent but never caught on in SA. They can also use some cap tricks to create a decent TE.

I assume 14th is tied up to a KD trade anyways but was thinking of getting around the stepien rule.

Do think Sac owes a bit more as I said, but if SAS gets their 2027 first backs they can trade the 2026 SAS/Atl and then the 2027 Atlanta..

Maybe some team prefers to bet against Trae/Jalen than take 14th this year.

Let's see if the smoke around Demar having a market behind Durant is actually true (I'm skeptical). That said, It does feel like Miami (if they miss Durant obviously) makes the most sense- Demar for 20 and bad salary.

Looking at the rest of the picks 20-30, the only other fits feel like Celtics if they want to dump salary. LAC if they feel like they need a Demar type.

Not entirely against this. Take a middle ground pick for who knows what 6 years from now. I'd really like to get our swap back.

27 Spurs 1st, 31 Minnesota, JVal
for
14 + our swap + Branham.

This is what I'd offer. Essentially means we gave Fox/Barnes/Jval for 14, LaVine, Demar which is pretty gross. But Monte was a criminal and now they need to clean up his mess.

Or another twist:

Kings get:
1) 14
2) worst of Spurs / Hawks 27

Spurs get:
1) TWolves 31
2) best of Hawks / Spurs 27

So basically 2) is only a swap between the Spurs / Hawks picks which each team has, which serves as insurance for the Spurs in case something goes horribly wrong and they're worse than the Hawks in 27. Otherwise the Kings get the pick they currently have (Spurs') and so do the Spurs (Hawks'), which renders this swap meaningless.

It’s tough for me because I see value in guys later and I’m not enamored with this range so I wouldn’t want to see them go all in with the four assets to get this high. But that’s likely not how Sac is viewing it.

I suspect they are targeting Traore or Fleming.

Sac should take that.

If the Spurs don't love anyone at 14, and they don't have a better offer on the table, they probably take that as well.

It would be a stealthy way to commit the team to rebuilding while telling Vivek you added a 20/6/6 guy. But yes, I can't even imagine watching that team.

The working assumption for most Kings fan is DDR is gone by training camp. That takes the edge off this some.

Wolves could offer 17 and 31 for the Spurs 27 pick and their pick back, if they want more trade flexibility moving forward

Guessing the Kings value the Wolves 31 pick higher than this, but think 17 > Wolves pick > Spurs pick > 31
