NOP/DAL trade Murray to DAL

Post#1 » by Michaellam1987 » Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:50 am

Murray (3yrs, avg of 32M, last year PO) for Gafford (14M expiring), Marshall (2yrs, avg of 9M), Christie (3yrs, avg of 8M, last year PO)

Why for NOP?

Murray just play badly in NOP for whatever reason, hence convert him into 3 useful pieces. Gafford can start at C, Marshall was a fan favorite in NOP before and can easily fit in, Christie has potential to take over the SG position in the long term. 10-man rotation and you still have #7 and #23 to use.

CJ/Jones/Murphy/Zion/Gafford/Alvarado/Christie/Marshall/Olynyk/Missi

Why for DAL?

Consolidate talent, and gamble for Murray to back to his all-star form who can start in either PG/SG position. Target to have prime 8-man rotation for playoff.

That's too much for Murray. Herb Jones has to be included for Klay and a 1st.

The Dallas package has some value, all the players they sent are worth their contract.. Murray doesn't, unless the trade is made at the deadline with Dejonte recovered.. I like the fit (thinking about a healthy Murray), but the Mavs can't start with what would be their 2 starting guards with long-term injuries.

NOP has no use on Klay, while DAL needs his clutch shooting if wants to win championship, if we insist put Klay into the deal and ask for Jones, then likely no deal.

Not a fan of Murray even in his ATL days pre injury, but I understand the gamble...

No interest in Murray who wasn't good when he was good. Plus Dallas needs someone who will be healthy.

3 positive value players/contract for one massive negative, horrific and elementary valuation here.

This is closer to Murphy than Myrray, and it isn't even in Murphys zip code

Actually think Dallas could ask for 23 and it gets closer… Then making it Martin instead of Naji..

And maybe need to dump Hardy on NOP as well in order to keep apron space to backfill roster..

think that’s what a deal would look like if NOP wanted to move Murray before he comes back.
