UTA/PHX

Utah out: Collins, Sexton, George, and #21
Utah in: Beal and #10

Phoenix out: Beal and #21
Phoenix in: Collins, Sexton, George, and #21

Why for Utah: Get another lotto pick

Why for Phoenix: Clean their books for next season

Why for Beal: Utah buys him out

I agree with the buyout. I think that is the only way Beal allows a trade.
I think phx adds 29 and doesn’t get 21 though.
Plus, phx would want one center.

I don’t think Utah should have to put George in this.

#29 and #10 or just #29?

I think it costs more than one pick to buy out $100m.

I think the Suns do counter offer with Jalen Green + 10th pick for Walker Kessler + Colin Sexton. The Suns need a starting level center and Bradley Beal is not going to approve a trade to the Jazz.

PHX should do this.

Yes...read that back...$100 Million!!! UTA attaches NOTHING of value if they're doing that. I wonder if the league would even go for that

Whole point of the buyout. I doubt Utah does your counter.

Terrible for Utah. Neither Collins nor Sexton are bad players. They’re not taking $120m in bad money for pick #10

We should, though, if we are willing to pay the money. His money would be off the books when we would have our core together. I would want 29 coming back her3, or to keep 21, George should be taken out, but I would do the core deal of Beal/10 for Sexton/Collins/stuff

Man, nobody will acquire a player and pay him a $100 million dollar buy out to not play for them -- that will still count against the UTA cap this season and next -- and all they get for a FREAKING $100 million dollars is the #10 pick.
This is not realistic as a business proposition

Utah gives away their starting point guard, two solid veterans that they could probably get some second round picks for, and has to pay $100 million dollars for a guy to not play for them - for the right to move up ten spots and draft....Kasparas Jakucionis? That is crazy.

I disagree. The way the cap is the Jazz are going to spend that money anyway and yes it might be on a player that offers more value but in their current position is there any difference between buying out a player and paying players to sit so you can lose?

Okay, you can disagree. I'm just saying that, in my opinion, this is not a realistic thing for the Jazz to do. And, in my opinion, the Jazz have not discussed it and will not discuss it as they would never, ever do it. Just my opinion, cheers

Why aren’t the Suns trading 10 for Kessler

Utah doesn’t want to trade Kessler.

If we were interested in trading him I could see that, but I don't think we are.

Players who are paid to sit and lose can still be useful, either via future utility or in trades. Once a player has been bought out and waived it's simply dead money, useless in any future transaction and tying up cap space that could be used to acquire additional assets.

Unless Beal is giving up a significant portion of his 26-27 salary in exchange for his freedom to sign a new deal elsewhere now (which I don't see happening), the Jazz trading for and subsequently waiving Beal for such a paltry return would be the dumbest [expletive redacted] move they could make this offseason.

Jazz might offer Collins, #21 and a protected 1st for #10, but I doubt the Jazz would put all those assets in a deal and take back that Beal contract. The difference between 10 and 21 isn't all that much. Jazz can still get a nice player at #21.

If the Jazz are enamored with #10 in this draft, they could offer Phoenix back their 2031 unprotected 1st.
