Rockets - Pelicans

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Mon Jun 23, 2025 4:59 pm

Jabari Smith Jr and Holiday for Herb Jones and Elfrid
pgs are only involved to make the $ work.

Why for Houston? Looking at the team, I'd really want to move Jabari for what could be their Caruso. A guy who knows his role, guards multiple positions and doesn't require a lot offensively. He also has an extra year locked in on a good contract.

FVV/Reed
Jones
Amen/Cam
Durant/Eason
Sengun/Adams

Why for Pelicans? They need some upside. I'd be looking at Smith as a guy who could take a jump on a new team and a great fit with Trey Murphy at only 22 years old. They can play huge for now, but Zion may also get moved at some point.

I think that the Rockets have made it clear that Jabari/Tari/Reed aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Only 1 out of Herbs 4 seasons has he shot over 1.2 3PM per 36 on over 34%

With us having Amen and Eason who are more agile and versatile to guard on the perimeter, I wouldn't make this move. Jabari is a better shooter and and adds the versatility of being more of an inside/rebounding presence, with higher upside.

I love Herb, but Jabari is the perfect archetype for a championship defense and offense, and so young. Nice contrast to Sengun, or maybe Giannis, if he becomes available. There is no back up for what he brings, as 3, 4 or small ball 5.

I think the best path forward for the Rockets is too plan on keeping Amen, Tari and Bari, the offball impact guys and use all other assets to pursue stars.

Rockets still need all the shooting they could get, not the highest on Jabari and very open to a trade but don't think this is the move
