Houston sends: Cam Whitmore, Jock Landale
Houston receives: Sam Hauser

Boston sends: Sam Hauser
Boston receives: savings, maybe a second from team X

Team X sends: maybe a second
Team X gets: Whitmore and Landale

Houston trades Cam for a proven off ball shooter

Boston dumps Hauser

Team X takes on Landale's expiring for Whitmore

Team X just needs space, the mle or a TPE, ideas were BKN with space, Chicago or ATL with trade exceptions

Whitmore's salary is $3.5M next year. BOS is at 14 players with Hauser plus picks. That means they have to backfill the roster spot. The vet min is $2.2M. I think Whitmore is an intriguing enough prospect here that BOS would keep him for that extra $1.3M vs. a vet min filling that spot and find some other way to dump Landale.

Inevitably there will probably be some team that ends up with like 16-18 players under contract that have guaranteed money after trades. BOS can maybe trade Landale for a couple of those minimum salary guys and waive their own non guaranteed guys so it net costs them nothing on the cap sheet. My guess is they move #28 and/or #32 for future 2nds to use in small salary dumps too so that's an option.

If BOS is moving Hauser while Tatum is out they have plenty of minutes for Whitmore, not even to mention a potential Jrue trade meaning more minutes for Brown at SG and even more time for Whitmore at SF spot. If HOU offers this, I think BOS keeps him.

I am not a big Whitmore guy but is this the consensus value he has among Rocket fans? Memphis would likely jump in if it only costs 2nds but cannot take in Landale too.

Seems like the Nets should kicks the tire here on Whitmore. Atlanta maybe? Char? Chi?

I mean yeah if Boston is willing to make finding a home for Jock their problem that works as well. Could make it Holiday and Nate Williams instead of Jock as well, that may be preferable to Boston, easier to dump two smaller deals, Holiday can stick around until the deadline for them probably

Hauser to Houston
Whitmore + 2 Future 2nds to Boston
Londale + #31 to Brooklyn

Some team probably sees enough in Whitmore to make this doable, but yeah if Boston wants him they should have the option to just spend the asset to dump Jock and keep him.

I don’t really see Boston purely dumping Hauser, but it’s possible I suppose.

Also, to comment on the HOU side... They're about $101M below the projected luxury tax line next year ('26-27) right now once you factor in Whitmore and Landale off the books after this trade. BUT, reportedly they're talking about an extension with FVV. Have to think they'll look to extend Durant. Jabari and Eason are due extensions too. $50M for Durant, $35M for FVV, $20M for Jabari, $15M for Eason and then filling out the roster...All of a sudden HOU is probably pushing the 2nd apron. Oh and then the next year Amen is up for extension.

Feels like HOU might have too many re-signings coming up to commit to Hauser's 4 year term IMO. He makes more sense for teams with a bit less talent to re-sign over the next couple of years.

those are way too generous prediction for jabari and eason. i'd add 5-10M to those estimates for each of them

Id say having a rotation wing locked into a decent and easily dumpable salary is a plus in this scenario, not a negative, exactly like it's been for Boston, they had him for when they needed him and are now able to freely dump him and get a minor + back when they need to

Even more reason not to trade for Hauser then haha

Though to be fair, even if those are the numbers they sign for, backloaded deals probably still have them closer to the numbers I used for the salary seasons I was talking about. But they'd escalate over Hauser's 4 year term of course.

I definitely see that side of it. Shooting can be variable year to year though... if you find yourself needing to move him for $$$ savings on same randome fluky year where he only shot 35% from 3 it could flip value. Not to wish it on anyone, but he could get hurt too. I just feel like giving value for a guy on a 4 year deal when it looks pretty clear on the cap sheet you'll need to dump him might not be the best move. Obviously he'd help but feel like you could find bench shooting cheaper in terms of years committed, albeit an older player and maybe not as defensively playable.

With Jalen gone, likely MLE on hand in a market with plenty of decent shooters, would pass and prefer to kick the tires on Whitmore again.

Yeah I'd keep Whitemore and pay to dump Jock elsewhere. Would make sense if Brad felt like he needed to take some swings on higher upside guys if there is a talent drain on the roster due to cap reasons. Hauser is what he is at this stage, Whitmore i really liked out of college, seems like he could potentially still have another gear.

I didn't think it's a given they pay both their wings or that one or doesn't end up traded and if so they'd like to have Hauser on the roster. Flexibility.

I get that BOS and HOU are trying to shed salary,

Whitmore has shown he can and is ready to shoot, the Bulls need him to score within the offense not just fire away because he gets the ball in his hands. Once they trade Vucevic Landale is an acceptable 3rd string center

The Bulls can't just take in 2 players and draft #12. They have 6 expiring contracts for next summer, 14 roster spots right now. Point them in the direction of teams that could take Jevon Carter, Dalen Terry and send SRP's to BOS or HOU.
