Cavs get: Trey Murphy, Herb Jones, Jordan Hawkins and 7th pick
Pels get: Donovan Mitchell, Walker Kessler, John Collins and Johnny Juzang
Jazz get: C.J. McCollum, Isaac Okoro and Yves Missi
Why?
Cavs turn Mitchell into a package of solid players, a pick and save money.
Pels get a superstar in his prime, a quality starting big and PF.
Jazz get a star veteran guard, a wing defender on a team friendly deal and a big man prospect.

Re: Cavs, Pels and Jazz
I think Utah is giving up quite a bit of value here.

Re: Cavs, Pels and Jazz
What is Utah doing in this deal? What is the point of a "star" veteran guard and a wing "defender" for them? Do McCollum and Okoro elevate them into the next tier of teams, which for Utah is the play-in I guess?

Re: Cavs, Pels and Jazz
I have Kessler > Missi, Collins > CJ for our roster b/c we have so many guards, and the difference between Juzang and Okoro not being meaningful. I think 7 should go to Utah here, New Orleans can keep Missi, and we can send out 21 and/or a future pick(s) to balance. As-is, it just doesn't really work and I think the value is off.
I also do not get it for Cleveland at all.

Thanks for commenting on my trade idea. I'm open to the idea of trading Mitchell, I think his tunnel vision in crucial games can be problematic.

I figured I'd add a third team since the Pels already have McCollum and are receiving Mitchell in my proposal, similar players.

Re: Cavs, Pels and Jazz
Maybe keep it simpler Mitchell for Murphy, Hawkins, 7 and filler. A few future picks?
Agree pre-draft, do it after 7 is signed to save more $ for CLE coming back.
EDIT: Let NOP figure out McCollum/Murray. But, it seems a weird year for them to be making a push like this, tbh.
I don't think I agree with the premise, though. Nobody is perfect in the clutch. I'd much rather trade Garland to save money and keep the all-nba guy that agreed to resign with you. Keep Mitchell and Mobley, then the rest are available in the right deals.

Thanks, I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to Mitchell and Garland. The counter you proposed looks very interesting.

It's oftentimes the right place to be.
