Sixers add to the Maxey core, dialing back the clock on the Paul George salary slot, and look to make a playoff push in a fragile East while Embiid still has gas in his tank.

Ainge, no stranger to swings in the high lottery (Tatum), jumps the Hornets at 4. He takes Ace Bailey 3 and banks on Hornets tanking VJ Edgecombe 4 (personally not a fan). Ainge scoops up Jeremiah Fears at 5 from under the noses of: Wizards, Pelicans, and Nets, all rumored to be bidding to move up to 3 or 4 for Fears.

Jazz have worked out Fears 2x.

Ace gets his free reign of shot attempts and develops as a #1 option. Fears gets to run his own team and learn on the job as the youngest starting point guard in the NBA, ensuring Ainge a high lottery pick in the 2026 and 2027 drafts, plunging down with the Wizards and Nets on a deep tankathon.

The Jazz retain plenty of vet help to guide along the rookies.

Philly fans have shot this down multiple times. I think it is about the only deal that makes sense for 3 to Utah (unless it is 5 and 21), but the 76ers should be taking an upside swing at 3 instead of trying to build a contender around Embiid.

I see this as building around Maxey while riding out Embiid with fresher legs (Lauri over George).

I love this draft for Danny Ainge. He would be the one and only to pull something wild like this. Jeff Peterson is not equipped.

The East is wide open for the Sixers. Maybe they sign-and-trade Grimes for a C2.

Philly shouldn’t be doing this.

This deal has been posted at least a half dozen times, but probably more. Not sure why it keeps re-surfacing, but Lauri still isn't worth this much.

I really don't like the constant idea of packaging the third pick to get rid of George's contract. I'd much rather add a cost controlled good rookie and hope for a bounce back season for George instead of thinking short sighted like this. Even if George can't come back, give me the potential upside of that rookie.

This deal has been shut down by Philly fans. And Utah sending #5 to move up two spots is shut down by Utah fans.

If a deal did happen it would probably have to be PG and #3 for Lauri, #21, and an asset like worst of Utah and LA 27 frp.

I think I would pass if I was Utah, but I could see a deal like this happening if Utah is really high on two guys in the top 3-5 range.

And Philly probably passes unless they can package #21 and the other frp to move up into the 10-14 range for a guy they think is worth it.

But I think a deal like this is closer to what could possibly happen if Utah and Philly do go this route.

This has Lauri to PG13 swap valued at around pick 4.

Sixers are getting a better player than Lauri for 3? Who? And how are they paying that player unless they move Paul George in the deal?

Why would the Sixers do this deal? They have no urgent need to drop salary. They are under the 1st apron by a good margin. PG13's value is at its nadir. They don't know what Embiid's gonna look like. To cap it off, a 28 year old injury-prone guy who made one AS game in his career on a big contract is just not worth the 3rd pick in a good draft. Literally just wait and see, then go all in for a better player.

It's difficult to get a team to move off a lottery pick before the draft. It's the kind of trade that would happen during the draft based on how the draft shakes out. That's why I don't quite see it happening. Toronto or Phoenix might be willing to move #9 or #10, respectively, but to get them do it when Philly is on the clock at #3 is challenging.

Yeah, it's a longshot for sure.

But the Sixers have no business at 3 given the high end talent atop their roster. Injuries displaced them. The last time a top competitor landed a top-3 pick due to injury was the Warriors. They took James Wiseman 2.

Do the Sixers take a sure thing? Maybe Lauri is not good enough. I think he's immensely talented and pushes the Sixers back into contention where they belong, health pending, but that applies to all teams including those that go on a streak of picture perfect health only to break at the core as we saw Game 7.

Can Ainge acquire Maluach for this trade? He's a wildcard who kind of keeps open the window for the Sixers beyond Embiid.

I personally don’t think a deal can be had unless Utah is retaining both #3 and #5. There isn’t a large gap between 3 and 5.
