Toronto and OKC

There's rumors that OKC wants to get in the top 10 picks in this draft. I think they might the looking at Noa Essengue or Fears or Bryant all makes sense one other option is Queen if they feel like he's not there at #15.

Toronto trades
2025 1st (9th overall)

OKC trades

2025 1st via Miami (15th overall)
Nikola Topic
One of 2025 first (24th overall)/2026 first via Philly (top 4 protected)/2027 Denver first (top 4 protected)

Why for Toronto: the Giannis Antetokounmpo and Durant windows closed. Mulach is probably gone and Toronto gets Topic who Darko loves and has the potential to be a solid backup PG or SG. #15 for the BPA and if Toronto gets one of Denver or Phillys first I think they might attach it to RJ or Poeltl for a upgrade

Why for OKC : As mentioned above they are trying to get in the top 10 in this draft. They have enough picks as it is I can't see them bringing in 3 rookies to camp. I think consolidating the draft capital the draft capital this year for a better prospect seems like tyre better route. Also with Wallace, Joe, Shai, Caruso, Dort, Wiggins, Mitchell does Topic have a legit spot?

i think its 9 for 15/24/HOU 2026 top 4 protected 1st or 9 for 15/topic

For me the Clippers 2027 swap would have to part of the deal. No way I'm doing it without it.

Ideally 9 for 15, Clippers 2027 swap + Dallas 2028 swap.

Those two swaps are unprotected and way more valuable than the 24th, Topic or Houston's 2026.

I much rather take the Topic deal he's got better upside than #24 plus a late Houston pick.

they can get higher than 9 if they use those swaps and 15

yeah you think? interesting. how high?

anyways I'd need at least that Clippers 2027 swap. otherwise I would probably stand pat.

Some pretty optimistic asks itt. 15 to 9 isn't nearly the jump say 6 to 4 is yet we are seeing a higher demand here. I think its considerably less than this.

Rockets trade #9

OKC trades #15, #25, 2026 HOU 1st top 4 prot

Rockets get some additional trade flexibility to make moves after the draft

Thunder consolidate a bit

historically 10 went for 15 and 20 (zach collins i believe), or 16 + a juicier future 1st (bridges for zhaire smith), so i think 9 for 15/24/future late 1st is about right

I think it's maybe a little sweet for Toronto with Topic. IMHO without him I don't move 9 for 15 +24 the drop in talent is too steep. What would you suggest me some more fair deal then? Was thinking about Ochai in the deal but he's a guy Toronto values a whole bunch more than others.

OP has Topic. Another poster demanded two best of picks. I would say both of those are optimistic. Do you disagree?

Yeah take Topic out as OKC chose him knowing he was unlikely to help in year 1. I think they want to see that out. Then pick a reasonable future 1st and I think you've got it.

I guess I should have been more clear. I saw you push back so figured you wouldn't have thought I was talking about your offer.

You think 9 for 15 + the Clippers 2027 swap is too much to ask for?

I don’t think that’s unreasonable, but maybe I’m off. There’s risk that the swap is irrelevant and they just traded down six spots for nothing. I can see where you’re coming from though.

No clue who’s our target but I would rather not move up .

The '27 swap doesn't have much value, nowhere near close to drop from 9 to 15.

OKC has a roster crunch, and especially in the backcourt (Shai/Caruso/Cason/Dort/IJoe all need minutes) so its very possible they will use Topic to consolidate more high end talent.

Something like Topic + #15 + a '26 2nd for #9.

Although Raps have to really love Topic to do this.

I think we move off Joe . We waited a year for topic so probably would want to see how he plays first.

There’s always Dieng to dump for 1 roster spot .

yup thats a reasonable take OKC has plenty of other assets to cobble together a move up offer though

imagine jakucionis is at 9 (i doubt) and he has equal projection to topic (i think topic has a higher floor, both have pretty big upsides imo). does one extra year of contract really compensate for the investment thunder already made on topic's rehab and getting within the system, bonding with people?

idk so. remind thunder could've stashed topic and save one year of club control but they chose to have him inside the organization instead, that's relevant

i'm not saying a team should try to trade a top 10 pick for topic, i think just it doesn't make sense for the thunder to give him away after investing a 12th and a rehab year in him without a more significant return
