BOS trades: Anfernee Simons, 28
in: Vucevic, 34
Boston cuts a bit of salary and gets a stopgap center.

CHI trades: Nikola Vucevic
in: Nurkic, Smith Jr., 28
Chicago moves Vucevic for a first.

CHA trades: Jusuf Nurkic, Nick Smith Jr., 34
in: Simons
Charlotte tries out a young, scoring combo-guard as a sixth man or starter at a low cost. If it doesn't work, you let him walk in the offseason.

I feel that Charlotte's likely to draft a point/combo guard at #4. So Simons isn't a great fit once that happens. If they somehow draft a different position, then they could be interested.

Consider it done.

Don't even know the contracts, just get rid of Vuc.

Gets BOS super close to the lux tax, but no way to get under it - other than flipping Vuc again. And that's after dumping Hauser/Niang.

I think BOS either keeps Simons or gets a move to get them fully under the tax - or at least enables that. Vuc seems dead-end-ish in that it would take an asset to flip him for something cheaper.

Good deal to me-you can drop Nick Smith unless he's needed for salary?

Bos ends up with a core of White/Brown/Vuc next year

I think he is needed for salary, but I might be wrong. I did head math since spotrac isn't updated.

Something like this makes some sense for Boston, but I think if they are moving back to the second rounders with pick swap, they get to shed more salary. In a trade value sense doesn’t Simons have more value than Vucevic?

I agree, Simons has more value than Vuc, and I don’t think Vuc is the type of C Boston needs; the man is a cone on defense. They need a younger, more athletic, and preferably cheaper C.

Cut out the bulls, the celts IMO will be lottery hunting next year. No need to try to win a few more games with vuc over Nurk

The bulls maybe find floor time for #12, #28 is straight to the G League all season, with the guard list Smith plays even less than than #28

yeah the Nurkic fan club loves this, he's not Vuc, he's expiring, he's third string

this just adds 2 bodies to a nearly full roster

I think Boston would need Chicago to eat Niang as well via their TPE. That let's them duck below the tax after making the Vuc/Simons swap.

I'm fine with it if it gets us below the tax line. Now that we've jettisoned KP/Jrue, I'm hoping Brad leans into the "soft tank" and looks towards 26/27, so Vuc isn't the idea target as he might shoot well enough in a couple games to win us a few we don't want but I'd take him for now and figure it out later (Maybe send him to the Lakers for expiring's and Knecht?).

yeah i'm good with this as long if our top pick isn't VJ or Tre

It's a talent upgrade so i might go with this regardless and just play multiple guards at a time
