Nets get PG13, #3
Sixers get CamJ, #8, #27
Nets climb to a higher pick to take Tre or VJ.
Sixers dump PG13 for a similar level player in CamJ and still get a top 10 pick. Sixers can now bring back Grimes, sign picks, use NT-MLE and BAE while staying out of tax.

The Nets are not giving #8 if they're taking on PG. Absolutely no chance. This is horrific value for the Nets.

Gap between #3 and #8 in this draft is huge value.
I don't think 8, 19, 22, 26, 27 gets you to pick 3.

Agree
Paul George is owed another 3yrs/$162M. I think that is a negative given his play and age. I don't see the Nets giving up both #8 and Cam Johnson just to move up to #3
Nets could take PG into space once the new season starts July 1. A better question is how much draft compensation would Brooklyn demand to take that, and I don;t think they'd demand less rn

The gap between 2 and 8 is huge.
The gap between 3 and 8 is not as great.

The gap between 3 and 8 is also huge.
The gap between 5 and 8 is Hugh.
The gap between 6 and 8 isn’t much.

After Flagg and Harper, every prospect carries flaws. There's no consensus on those players. Projections 3-10 are all over the place, and all of those players are on a similar tier. As a result, there's not a huge incentive to break the bank to move up within that tier. Bailey, Edgecomb, Kon, Johnson, Fears, Maluach, Essengue, Jaku are all very good prospects, and at least 3 of them will be available at 8.

No it isn't, not in this year's draft. The next tier/grade of prospects after 2 is a plateau that stretches 3 to 9, according to most draft analysts. The only reason to trade up from 8 to 3 this year is if you have to get 1 specific type of guy from this tier, which Brooklyn doesn't.
I would certainly give Johnson, 8 and 27 for George and the #2 pick, because that would be Dylan Harper. But that's not what were trading for here. It's a steep drop after 2.

Who do the Nets want at #3 to make them do this

While i don't totally agree that all those guys are equal prospects, I respect your right to be happy with who is left to you at 8. I'm pretty happy with small pick deals that would bounce us in the 3-5 range (or happy to actually make the pick) if they materialize, maybe 6. but it would take significant insentive to be happy with the last of the guys in that group.

No, it is. You have more options, more choice available, at 3 than 8. There's not a GM who says: "Throw these 5 guys in a hat, and we'll take whichever one you pick out".
This concept of tiers is driven by babbling heads who get paid to overanalyze.

I don't hate it for the Nets, but I'm assuming PG13 can be rehabbed and traded later for positive value.

Take out #27 and give the Nets a 2nd

Draft trades aren’t made on consensus. We as fans really have to break this habit.
If you don’t love the 3rd player on your board, fair enough. But at least recognize that we don’t have the tools to fall in love with players like NBA teams do. We don’t meet them. We don’t talk to the people who were around them every day. There’s even a dearth of easily accessible public full game footage. There are going to be teams with clear 3rd best players. There might even be teams that have Harper below 2. That’s how every draft works for guys below the Flagg level. None of that means they want to pay the cost to move up. But they do exist.

I'd do this if BKN also sends the Sixers 28 1st top 8 protected 1st back.

There are other players to trade and I'm not sure if I've seen too may realistic trades for PG. I cannot see Sixers/Morey dumping PG to save money or open cap space at this time.
What are Sixers accomplishing by trading PG and #3 for #8 and Grant? If they want to compete, then PG is the better player than. If they want to build for the future, then they'd rather have #3 than #8.
