Pick swap

Assuming that the GMs actually want the suggested players and they are all still there at #6:
Phoenix trades #10 for 3 of Nets 1sts (19, 27, 36) figuring 3 chances to strike lighting (and 3 cost controlled players) are more likely to hit than 1 higher pick.
Washington trades 6 and 18 to New Jersey for 8 and 10 to get Queen and Fears/Essengue.
New Jersey makes it all happen to move up to get Ace Bailey (and has 18 right in front of 19, and 26 right in front of 27 to make sure Phoenix doesn't pick the guy they want at that spot). If the Nets don't believe in Bailey of course this is not happening but he's probably got the most upside in the draft as a primary scorer.

Phoenix is overpaying and shouldn't consider this, Nets are overpaying but maybe should. Washington is underpaying.

And where is OKC in this pick swap arrangement !!
In actual fact since we are this close to the draft it’s more of trading up to get specific players that each GM like . In a vacuum phx should aim for a higher first pick dropping down from 10 , Washington is stealing value here.
I want know who nets really really like to see if it’s good value for them.

If WAS traded back, they’d probably not get Fears or Bailey, who I think they want at 6.
Maybe take WAS out and PHX can try and trade 10 for 19 and 27. But seems like PHX wants a shot at Queen or Khaman, who will both be gone by 19.

Radio guys were saying that Ainge is taking Ace at 5 - to force an asset from Washington to get him.
Probably several seconds or that GS top 20 protected first.

Couple of things:
(a) Washington isn't trading back hoping to get Bailey, Nets are moving up specifically because they think he's a potential star and if he's gone at 5, then the whole thing is, of course, off. No one else from the 6-10 likely group seems to have the kind of ceiling that Ace Bailey does though he's raised some flags about it.
(b) Tracking the history of the #10 pick v. the numbers 18, 27, and 36, I'm pretty sure you get more good players with the shotgun approach than the sniper shot. I would say it's reasonable though because Brooklyn hasn't got the developmental time to give that many rookies whereas it looks like Phoenix does (as long as they don't pick 2 guards). It can do what Washington did last year and give lots of time to lots of rookies.

That's a pretty risky play. Draft the guy you want on your roster.

And this is the problem with pure trade up scenarios at this point. You aren't generally trading for value now, so there is no incentive to make the trade until you see how the board is falling and get a sense for which other teams are targeting the guy you want.

It works if you're okay with Ace being the guy on your roster though.
