Boston: AD
Dallas: Jaylen Brown, #32, A FRP?
Posted this on the Random thread, but thought it may be worthy of its own. Now that Boston is under the 2nd apron, this is now legal correct? This year is a wash anyway so AD can sit whenever he wants, and he will want, but when Tatum returns, you just may have the best duo in the association. Boston needs a big after dealing KP.
WHile Brown isnt an ideal SG, Dallas can slot him there with Flagg-PJ-Lively has the front-court anchors. Ky and Jaylen already have an established repertoire, and perhaps Brown, hailing from the Celtics, will be to Cooper's liking since that's his fave team. Dallas can use the 2nd on a guy like Tyrese Proctor or a guard who unexpectedly falls out of the first round. Is asking for a first too much?
I feel like it balances both teams nicely. Thoughts?

Seems best as a 3-team deal. AD would need to be the full-time 5 in Boston.

less than zero interest in this. Brown is a very good player no doubt. But if Dallas trades AD it should be for futures not a lower ceiling max player.

I don't get this for Dallas. Why burn through the Brown contract and prime while you are waiting for Flagg to pop. Much better to trade for future assets and keep your cap clean for when it is time to strike.
For Boston I would do this if I think Tatum is back for the playoffs. IF not then likely stick with the younger player and not rock the boat.

Re: Anthony Davis for Jaylen Brown
Not sure how relevant it still is, but AD was pretty vocal through his agent/dad about hating the idea of playing in Boston when that was a rumor. Maybe that was more about trying to strong arm his way to LA and discourage the biggest threat to that at the time than specifically hating BOS, but it's something fans will bring up.
I'm just really concerned about AD's health. He's played 56 games or less in 4 of the last 6 years and in one of the two years he was only at 62. He hates playing center and Tatum is best served as a PF so there's a positional conflict there. I certainly see the merits of it. but it kind of feels like making a move to make a move. BOS could use some tweaking for sure, but it ain't broke to where they need to blow it up like this.

I don’t like it for either team.
Boston can now aggregate but can’t take back more money. This would be legal for Boston in 2024/25, but not 2025/26. It would put them right at the second Apron for 25-26. I think it’s a no go for several reasons. Fit, direction, and financial.

Interesting feedback. I'm not going to lie, I was excited about this one. I just felt it was great for both teams and made Dallas much more balanced. All they'd need after is to trade Klay for a stop-gap PG, even if it's for a guy like Clarkston. I like Brown on this team and get rid of my least 2 fave Mavs, AD who whines about playing the 5 and sits out for minor injuries, and Klay who's a diva about starting even though he's regressed massively.
