Spurs get Brown

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Wed Jun 25, 2025 10:37 pm

Brown seems like a great target for the Spurs. A star wing to add to Fox and Wemby.

Celtics get Harper (#2), Vassell, Keldon

Spurs get Brown

Celtics get a rookie starting PG in this development year without Tatum.

Brown seems like a poor target for the Spurs, and I hope they stay far away from a trade for him.

There’s still time for Nico to trade for both White and Jaylen..

Don’t think Boston does a trade without the #2 pick coming back.

Did you not see Harper there?

I think this is good value and the Celtics would /should do it.
For the Spurs it’s a win now move and I am not sure they are quite to win now?, but maybe.
If I am the spurs I would keep Harper.

Spurs have said time and again they're aiming long term, Spurs are not giving Harper away no matter how much wishcasting goes around.

The Jazz are supposedly talking to Boston about Brown. If the Celts really are shopping him this trade would be better than anything the Jazz could offer and I seriously could see the Celts taking it.

I keep thinking though that Fox, Castle, Harper makes no sense. It's going to disturb the development of either Castle or Harper.

Getting a true SF sets them up really well IMO because you also want to be able to move Wemby between PF and C.

I get what you are saying. But adding Brown doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking longterm.

Fox, Castle, Brown, Wemby

This is a good point.
I’d be trying to move Castle if I was worried about that….probably not a Brown deal in that case though.

Sure it does, trading a 19 year old for a 29 year old whose game is heavily reliant on athleticism is absolutely a win now move, there's no two ways about it.

TBH I personally think Brown is more worth Collins+Sexton+#5 at most and id probably have Utah getting #28. But I think I view his value less than the board based on feedback.

And everyone seems happy with this valuation of Brown in this thread.

For Utah to compete with this offer it would need to be:
Collins+Kessler+Clarkson+5

I wouldn't do this as SAS. But I think Jaylen Brown is muchly overpaid on that contract, and want no part of it. Especially as he just had knee surgery (arthroscopic, admittedly).

I don’t think this meets the “blow me away” package it would take to get him.

I’m actually very much looking forward to seeing how JB does next year sans Tatum, tbh. Not in a proclaiming he’ll be awesome and everyone can suck it kinda way. Just in a legitimately curious how well he can do it for a full season as #1. We know he can have great games and lead the team to wins in reg season games and even playoffs sporadically without JT. But can he do it consistently as the guy? Will be interesting for sure.

I absolutely do not want Brown in Utah. We are 2-3 years away from a move like that. The Spurs have Wemby and could legitimately contend next year IMO with Brown. Utah does not have their guy yet.
