Kings Shooting Guards for your forward

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Thu Jun 26, 2025 4:42 am

I'd like to hold onto Keon and obviously Clifford.

What forwards can we get for any of Monk, Carter, LaVine, DeRozan?

The often discussed PJ for Monk is still my favorite. But I think Sac needs to move at minimum 2 of these guys asap.

So what is out there?

Grant for DeRozan?

I'd want the Kings to at least get something else back here.

Grant has 100+ million left over 3 years.
Demar has a partial 2nd year.

I'd be more tempted to just offer Demar a buy out.

I get it, and maybe the Blazers offer a sweetener, but the reality is that the guys you're shopping have been shopped. That's when you start seeing the Poole for CJ, or Simons for Jrue deals.

Not entirely opposed to the 1st deal, but I think sac is owed some value.

Hey man, they’re forwards. I had to try. :D
Not necessarily for Carter, but really no interest in Hauser?

Not from me. Kings fans may disagree, but I'm more interested in athletic players who can defend. I think Hauser would come to Sac and do exactly what Huerter did.

I honestly wouldn't hate Niang. But I think Boston plans to use him this year, and there's not really a salary matching piece that makes sense for him. I mean JVal for Niang and Hauser with Hauser going to a 3rd team and small assets back to boston? Sure. But I don't see Boston going for that.

That's fair.

I've kinda grown to the belief we are stuck with Demar.

Some Kings fans still think there's value to be had for him. I think if there was that would have been done tonight.

I'd do Demar for an expiring straight up. Personally I'd even add a 2nd or cash if needed. Like Demar for Rozier no incentive needed. Then I'd just tell Rozier we aren't playing you, but we will keep you expiring in case we need it at the deadline. If we can't trade you, we buy you out.

I think I'm more curious what's the market on the other 3? I think Monk has more value than the names you mentioned. Carter is certainly not in that category. And LaVine i'm not expecting anything, but hes the guy you could talk me into trading for Grant.

Hauser is a plus defender, but not a super plus. Hunting him doesn’t really lead to efficient scoring for the other team. But, he’s not jump off the screen good. He had a back injury that made him suck for the first half the year on D, but he recovered nicely from it. Definitely better than Heurter imo.

But, yeah, it would have to be minimal salary back in total for either. My proposal actually works salary wise. I think BOS would be out if any more $ was coming back and just keep the guys we have. It’s purely salary dump motivated.

I question that being the case on the Kings rather than Boston.

Boston was loaded with great defenders. Kings, not so much. So if he goes from average to slightly below average in sac, thats a bad fit. Our guards and centers are already pretty bad defensively. I think the focus on forwards needs to be clear plus defenders.

Kings get PWill & Vando

Lakers: J Vanderbilt & M Kleber for D DeRozan
Bulls: P Williams for M Kleber
Kings: D DeRozan for J Vanderbilt & P Williams

LAL brings in some more talent for Luka & Bron to work their magic with
CHI gets off Williams' deal & dedicates more playing time to youth development
SAC brings in 2 forwards with some potential who add their unique skillsets to their roster

Sabonis / Val
Murray / Williams
LaVine / Vanderbilt
Ellis / Davis / Clifford

I don't think the Cavs should trade two of their guards/wings who can defend well for a 5th who can't. I think it's time to move Strus to the bench and let one, maybe both, of Ty or Merrill go so that you're rotating in better defenders off the bench. A Garland/Mitchell backcourt is survivable defensively. I'm less sure about a Garland/Mitchell/Ty/Merrill rotation.

This would be a yes from me

Garland/Jerome
Mitchell/tyson
Hunter/demar
Mobley/Wade
Allen

Monk/Carter
Lavine/keon
Strus/nique
Keegan
Sabonis/jval

Think this looks solid for both teams. But isn't it illegal for cavs?

I think you're ignoring that Demar played SF (even the PF for Billy D) in Chicago, with Lavine at the SG. You don't have the huge or expensive problem you think
