Rumor is Houston is committing to get Sheppard minutes. So, shopping Whitmore.

I think Chicago would be a great landing spot. Put him next to White.
What would be the deal?
Whitmore into TE. Get a first protected 12/10/8/6/seconds?
Or, chi seconds in 2028/29/30 and the por first protected 14/14/second.

Detroit maybe?

Not sure if for future picks or win now support piece.

Better landing spots?

Green and Brooks are gone, there should be minutes to both of them.

I like him heading home to Philly for a couple of 2nds. Maybe Eric Gordon and 2nds when Gordon opts in. Could be a nice shooter off the bench for Houston.

Yeah Reed is a PG/SG and Whitmore is a SF/PF. I don't think there's competition for minutes between them.

What they could get back for Whitmore at this point probably isn't worth it unless they're convinced he's just not gonna put it together in Houston.

I think the Kings make a lot of sense.

Rockets could use another Guard, Kings could use a forward.

Devin Carter for Whitmore straight up?

Wizards could use him most I think.

I don't think anybody is giving Houston much for him. So I'd keep him in case Reed can't beat him out. The insurance seems worth more than the 2nd round pick Unless he's going to be a problem without a regular role, then I'd move him regardless of what I got.

Doubt there’s much out there. Whitmore is like Mathurin, but a little less talented and somehow even less likely to pass. While he can be a bucket, you can really only use him off the bench if he’s locked in. Doesn’t provide enough otherwise.

If Houston want to hoodwink some idiot into giving valuable 1st for him, go east to NOLA, don't you.dare call.Nico.

I could see Celtics interested in him depending on what else they do. No idea what the trade would be, but I expect some combo of Simons/Hauser/Niang to be dealt with BOS trying to shed about $17M to duck the tax (and backfilling the roster spots has to be included in those calcs too). I'm sure in some combination of those moves taking a flier on Whitmore could be done.

I think Hou should keep him-2 more cheap years
FVV/Reed
Amen/?
KD/Whitmore
JSmith/Eason
Sengun/Adams
KD will miss plenty of games so Whitmore will get minutes

If Houston wants him they just tell him to opt out. After state taxes his new minimum is more than his slightly higher option

Agreed. Unless you know they are a bust, it’s much better to keep rookies (and their inexpensive contracts) too long rather than too short. It’s low risk to keep them, but kills you to see them be legit elsewhere.

I know Houston had some interest in RWIII.

How about a straight trade: Whitmore -> RWIII

Would rather use the mle on someone who can shoot than a third center.

I think they keep him and give him a shot to be the 9th man. Maybe if they get a wing in free agency with the mle that he won't beat you try to move him but I don't think he has much value rn

They are much better just keeping him and giving him more meaningful minutes. Nobody is paying much value for Cam Whitmore right now due lack of playing time and defensive concerns.

His defense isn’t bad. His passing is legendary atrocious. But, he can score. Put him out there with four defensive focused guys and he could average thirty. Just not sure how efficient he would be when they double and he can’t find the open man.
Partly why I thought Detroit might work. Put him and Cade out there with three defensive bigs.
I think he should pull a protected first. I would keep him over seconds.

What about whitmore and holiday for Hield?
Could use a super shooter off the bench.

You seem to want to start with a flawed premise, Coby White is not the Bulls PG. He's their SG. He honestly didn't work out when they tried to make him a PG years ago. They're resigning Josh Giddey as the PG, and they've got Lonzo Ball who is a PG. They have Kevin Huerter as White's backup at SG.

So sure from your HOU perspective he's worth a lot, to the Bulls a guy who hasn't played 100 games at low minutes, no way 3rd string equals any FRP even that PORT pick

Whitmore only has a single season in the NBA, but Mathurin has a lot more talent and trade value. Carlisle getting him to finally play defense really matters.
