Brooklyn - Toronto

Brooklyn trade: Johnson, Wolf
Toronto trade: Barrett, TOR 2026 1st
Why for Toronto: Playoff push. Ownership doesn't want to tank anymore.. Wolf theoretically should fit well with CMB on the bench + Toronto liked him during the predraft process
Why for Brooklyn: get a high variance 1st for Johnson unlike the other offers we see
Poeltl/Wolf
Johnson/CMB
Barnes/Dick
Ingram/Agbaji
IQ/Shead

I don’t get it, from the Raps pov. Cam Johnson won’t get much playing time at the 3 or 4.
Raps have Ingram, Scottie, CMB, Mogbo, Ochai, Gradey all vying for minutes at the 3&4.
Feels like an RJ Barrett move just for the sake of it.

Upgrades our spacing and bench production, fills backup C hole and keeps us out of tax this and next year (gives us room to re-sign poeltl and agbaji)

Raps are already pretty stack at the forward spot, no? Cam Jo is a better floor spacer than the others, but still

Agree
I also have absolutely no idea how well Wolf will be in the NBA. As a Michigan alum, I always catch a few UM Bball games, and Wolf is one of the most confounding prospects I've ever followed on the Wolverines. He has skills that should translate, including great passing vision, and he could be a surprise hit. OTOH he may very well not have enough athleticism to hang in the league at all. I just don't know.
I'm still thinking the best move for TOR to stop digging a hole is to flip BI at the TDL

2 best assets in the deal are from the Raps. Easy pass.

I don't get Wolf's inclusion. Nets are trading a valuable player and taking on slightly negative salary, while only getting one pick, yet they need to kick back a just drafted player?

If the 1st is unprotected the Nets say yes for sure. There's a good chance the Raptors are bad next year. If it's protected, there's no way the Nets do it.

Hea included because i think unprotected 1st + barrett > johnson, or at least the consensus is johnson wouldnt fetch high variance pick normally/otherwise in the other OKC threads

Variance is greatly overrated on this board, especially for a pick one season out. If the Raptors want Johnson, they need to put at least a first on the table. If they're afraid they'll implode, put some light protection that rolls over for multiple years. If you don't want to have your tradeable draft picks tied up for multiple years, don't protect it and live with the outcome.

Is that pick unprotected? Why do you do this to us?

Yes, i think we can make playoffs in the east/the new FO isnt going to tank anyways. I think webster and Tolzman will try their hardest to win to secure a promotion

Wolf is a better asset than Barrett? I feel like the valuations of Barrett have jumped the shark
Look, I get scepticism about Barrett's statistical improvement as a starter in TOR. It could be all empty stats. Too much tanking and injuries. He's spent so much time playing beside rookies and GLeaguers, and every position except C, that it is impossible to know if his jumps in efficiency and D will translate to playing as a 4th option in the starting line-up. But just like I don't think we can project from his 100 or so games starting in TOR, I don't think we can completely ignore that time either. We also shouldn't ignore that, on a CMNT (with SGA, Brooks, Dort, Murray and Nembhard) RJ Barrett was arguably the second best player in 2 successive summers of international competition.
If Barrett is as negative as perceptions on this board are, might as well wait until next off-season to trade him as he will be cheaper to move when he is on an expiring contract.
I'd still rather flip BI at the TDL -- hopefully after recouping some value better than the late FRP he cost.

Nope.
The Raptors just shopped him and found no takers.

Where in the article does it say that no teams are interested?
Seems like you just made that up and then pasted a random article

Wolf didnt get a chance to go on the court depreciate yet

i think barrett is worth expirings. Mostly want to trade him to keep agbaji/avoid the tax/fill back up C hold. Im okay with holding him til TDL/next offseason too to see if his good play keeps up in lower usage role

You stated some random opinion, pasted a random article from MSN lol. Then you double down. Nice.
