PHX/MIN/UTA

MIN OUT: Rob Dillingham, Mike Conley, 2026srp, 2029srp
MIN IN: Colin Sexton, 2027frp (their own from UTA)

PHX OUT: Jalen Green, Nick Richards
PHX IN: John Collins, Rob Dillingham, Mike Conley, MIN 2026 and 2029 srp

UTA OUT: Colin Sexton, John Collins, 2027 MIN frp
UTA IN: Jalen Green, Nick Richards

Why for MIN? Upgrade at PG, get their pick back in 2027

Why for PHX? Get a young PG prospect and a vet PG to help them both now and in the future, had previous interest in Collins, get a much better fit and depth around Booker

Why for UTA? Get a "star" prospect back for players who are already expiring and on the trading block, have a stated goal of not "tanking", although not sure how much Green helps there. :D

This is crazy, why on earth would we trade our only two point guards, for one PG??? Mike isn't going anywhere regardless.

Not sure I understand the Minnesota inclusion.

Jalen Green for John Collins and Worst of 2027 1st(s)

Phoenix balances the roster and gets a late 1st.
Utah gets another high-upside player and pseudo-competes in 2025-2026.

Can't see the Wolves giving up on Dillingham at this point, unless it's for a star

As a Utah fan, I don't understand the Phoenix inclusion.

I don't really understand why Utah wouldn't just cut out Phoenix, or conduct the trade with them independently.

Regardless, not crazy about this for Minnesota (note: Minnesota would also have to send out Josh Minott or another filler for it to be legal). If Collin Sexton's contract was longer it would be worth consideration, but him expiring after next season is pretty problematic, with Minnesota's current cap situation.

Also Sexton is more a SG at this point. Career AST/TO is 3.7/2.3 and in Utah it has been 4.2/2.2. That is not what the Wolves should be looking for. Then again I am one of TCs biggest detractors. I think he is gonna keep tinkering and doing everything possible to destroy my team. A team that was set on a great path by Gerson Rosas, and has been steadily worsened by Tim Connelly.

Doubtful the Wolves are willing, but if they are I'm cutting Phoenix out of this deal in a heartbeat.

Conley should be gone. He is too old to compete at the highest level.

Why are we sending a first? We are trading the two best players in the deal...and we aren't the team getting Dillingham?

MIN’s regular season #1 two-man pairing was Mike Conley - Nickiel Alexander Walker. 591 minutes, Net Rtg +12.0

In the playoffs, MIN’s #1 two-man pairing was Conley and Gobert (+14.0) and the #2 was Conley and McDaniels (+11.0)

I just feel like they have to be more athletic at the one to compete with OKC

I have no desire for this as the official Utah GM. Rather trade Collins and Sexton for an unprotected FRP in 2039.

You might be right, and while Mike Conley still tries to be a tough defender with brains and effort, he was often the one who was likely to get attacked in the playoffs defensively when there other Wolves players are strong defenders. Rumors in MIN was that the Wolves were looking at Lonzo Ball before CLE snatched him up.

Maybe I identify with Mike as I get older, but I just wanted to point out that he is not dead yet, and can still play some decent ball (plus his leadership is important too). In exit interviews, he said he wants to play two more seasons, and he wants to retire in MIN, but you’re right, at age 37, the Wolves need to prepare for his eventual decline.

Strange fact - he’s older than the two Wolves draft picks, combined!
