Overpay. Thankfully it is only 2 years. Let's hope Miami doesn't turn around and do something similar with Robinson...

Good for him. His time in Sac/Toronto wasn't good, but he was decent in Miami. Shooting felt like an outlier, but he's priced as a backup for Kasparas.

I'd expect 2nd year to be team option

Side note: I mentioned a few months back Miami pivoting to 2027 free agency. If the 2nd year isn't a team option, does that signal 2027 being the target?

Feels like a good deal to me. He averages 10.3 points and 5.3 assists.

Most Raps fans were quite happy with him in his short stint in Toronto. Helped to cultivate a defensive identity they are looking to take forward.
But they also knew they didn't want to give him this contract when SheD improved thru the year and showed he can be a backup PG.
Win for both teams, and Davion.

I think it is a bit of an overpay. After watching him for 50 games on the Raptors, I thought a fair value contract would be around the TPMLE, which is about the right pay for a 4th guard on the roster
But this isn't a contract dollar amount that will kill your salsry cap, and the contract should be movable if you need to

Feels fine for a low-end starter/third guard, which is more or less what Mitchell became in Miami. Probably had to overpay a bit to get him to agree to only 2 years.

Yeah, $6M/season seems like a fair per-year amount. I can only assume Miami paid more per season in exchange for a shorter deal.

He seemed to be a vet min level player everywhere but in Miami he transformed.
I don't know if it's the system or if he just woke up but what he showed Miami is worth the money.
I guess time will tell if lat 40 games were a fluke or not.

Yeah, agree. Miami really values defensive tenacity and he has tons of it. Miami has a history of getting maximum output out of seemingly marginal NBA players, so maybe it'll work out. At least Miami only has to commit 2 years to find out.
