Sixers out: S&T Quentin Grimes (3/45) and Kelly Oubre

Houston out: Tari Eason, Jock Landale, and ‘26 2nd

Houston traded their 2 guard and don’t have a current replacement unless they plan to play FVV and Sheppard together. This gives them a starting 2 guard that can shoot and space the floor + another vet bench wing in Oubre. Landale is likely soon to be released and they have multiple 2nd’s next year

With Maxey, VJ and McCain Grimes becomes expendable, yet too valuable to let walk. Swapping him for a young F that fits the lineup makes a ton of sense. Landale can fill in some bench big mins while Embiid is hurt (perpetually) and then be released for $0 after the season.

you dont have to, just saying houston wouldn't offer more. Grimes is not a must have by any means

Yeah that would be like a case where Philly doesn't really want that tax bill so just get a slight something for nothing. Think they'll probably want to keep him at that price in all likelihood. But also, yeah... Houston is not doing this. I like Grimes but a lot of the hype around him is from a blazing hot mickey mouse march on a dreadful team. I've seen a particular bad SG have that march many a time, so definitely not moving Tari to just hope and pray that month or two was real

It is to Houston . Guess the trade won’t happen as is then given Eason for S&T is a dealbreaker for them.

Whitmore would be the player here from Houstons end.

I'm sure Houston would offer Jock + Whitmore for either Grimes or NAW in a S&T. Perhaps for DFS if he wants to opt-in.

I would prefer taking seconds over whitmore if I’m on the opposite side of that S&T , unless for some reason either of them see minutes for him inside their rotation.

If Sixers are above the 1st apron, I believe they'd only be able to take back a bit over half of that Grimes salary, due to BYC rules.

I love the objective for Houston, but I think the proposed price is excessive, especially considering that it would be a ST. Replacing Whitmore with Eason and perhaps adding 1/2 SRP I think is fairer and a win for both teams.
