Wow a relative super bargain for the Bucks.

I'd prefer Portis on my team over Naz and look at the value difference

Looks right. All these players just resigning on their current salary figures. Interesting.

Agree.

I thought Portis could have gotten $20M/year.

Yeah. This is really good for Milwaukee as well imo.

No cap space this offseason feels like it’s a real thing.

Mmmmm, Naz is the better player, younger, improving his craft etc. Portis is good, but is aging.

Ironically, Naz is being paid 25M to be a 6th man (3 headed big man rotation) whereas Portis is basically Giannis running mate, expected to be the starter with Giannis staying. Both would probably be better in the others situation, but both are such fan favorites where they are they won't be moving.

I think BroLo is Done-Zo there. Just poor return on investment for them. IMO they should kick the tires on Kornet, Bol, and basically anyone with stretch-5 potential to be a back up for Portis. I believe they will retain Sims on a very team-friendly deal, but despite that they will be on the court together, I view Sims/Giannis as more of the C in the rotation and then Portis etc as the 4 in terms of role. With 50M sitting on your IR, paying Bro-Pez what Lakers/Warriors will offer probably won't help the cause.
Gotta focus on adding wing depth, scoring, etc.
Hardaway Jr is probably a target for example.

Portis must really like Milwaukee or something, he could probably get double this somewhere.

A decent deal for the Bucks. I was expecting he would get a bit more than this.

Value feels pretty close, even after the PED suspension. Honestly a little surprised he got the player option, but maybe he got it to keep the annual amount a little lower?

Yeah. He gave up some money to stay imo.
Seems he deserves 20 million plus per year…

Giannis would have to sign off on that - They don't like each other.

I bet Giannis would welcome Chris Paul. Shocking I know that two super competitive guys might have one time gotten into a bit of a bruhaha, but I highly doubt that means Giannis is like keep this guy away from me because of this one time....

Its not a one time thing - It goes back to the Bucks/Suns Finals

Yes two hyper competitive guys are going to play really hard and maybe get heated when playing for a title. Really really doubt Giannis would turn his back on adding Chris Paul on the cheap because of that.

Fans care way more about this sort of thing than players, always.

I'm clearly in the minority, but I hate this for the Bucks. The PED issue aside, and you can never be sure you're getting the same guy when PED usage stops, why not start to clear the books for 26, take a flyer on younger guys, and give his minutes to players who might someday be better or more versatile than Portis?

We know who Bobby Portis is. We know who the Bucks are with Bobby Portis. The only question is whether we've already seen the best version of both and I think the likely answer is yes.
